The shoes I use are a cheaper brand then Converse's, called Lee Cooper. Their canvas material shoes, which allow me to paint on them freely. I use acrylic paint since they're quite durable and flexible too. I've never actually tried using fabric markers, however from what i've seen of them, their colour can become quite faded almost instantly, and especially from sun damage, whereas with paints, the colour is pretty damn strong for years, and so will last as long as the shoes :3
