As some of you may recall I've been working a temporary job at a local party rental company. This job was supposed to last until the ninth. Unfortunately, due to a rather cruel twist of fate, I won't be making it that far. You see, last Friday I received a phone call from the temp agency I've been working for. Since I was on the job at that point I wasn't able to dedicate much time to it and was thus told to call back at the end of my shift. As it turned out, I worked so late that day the person I was supposed to call had gone home by the time I got off work. Thus, I was instructed to call them on Monday. When I did I found that the phone, for some reason, was not available, so I resolved to drive to the temp agency's office and inquire in person. There I was informed that my assignment was being ended early, the reasons being concern over productivity and the potential for injury. When I pressed for further information I was told that they were merely the middle man and simply passing on what they were told. Needless to say, I'm not in a very good mood right now and feel like unleashing a volley of vitriol at the rental company as this whole experience, in retrospect, has been quite farcical. This strikes me as inadvisable, though, in light of the possibility of future potential employers finding this page. Thus, I will stick with stewing and possibly writing out my rage on paper.

One sort of good thing to come out of all this is that I am still sort of employed. After being told of my termination, I was offered another temporary position. And by "temporary" I mean "really temporary". And by "really temporary" I mean "two days". Still, it's employment and I took it. It entails putting up fliers for a local technologies company. It strikes me as being very menial and likely to produce long days but it's still a job. After that, who knows? Job hunting is really starting to destroy my soul.
