Welp. Help me world building? o:

Well time to get rid of the last journal! like 1.5 weeks to go before my collegue classes begin D:
soo. what if you ask me some world building questions? :D
A simple overview ! i been writting a little about it, and its where the story of my two protagnist mostly develops

They are parallel characters so they never meet, but they live in the same world, the only difference is that doctas lives in a medieval-reinnassance era and renam lives in a more actual era

also I think you mean parallel characters instead of parelel :p
may I ask is it Medieval European style or something else? Because in the Medieval age a lot was going on:
-Super cities in Africa--Timbuktu and Great Zimbabwe
-The Mayan culture collapsed but the Aztec empire began
-Samurai clan wars in Japan :D
it almost suggest that each story requires a differnt world o: .
of course time binds the two! but the former doesnt know anything about the later, the story flow goes from renam to doctas and so on, but i do plan on using the same world for more stories on a later time :>
oh and if i wasnt clear, yeah, renam lives in an era like, ours right now xD and doctas lives in the relative to the 13th century or so
well i didnt say that either, maybe i just dont know how to put it D:
time flow goes just from point a to b, protagonist on point b uses the long lost knowledge of point a to find his way out of point b , he has his own predicaments but he finds some shelther in what had already happened. the main story arcs are still in a mess of planning, and i wanted to get into planing the world o:
But what I can gather is that Renam has knowledge of what Dostas went through in his own time, and uses that for... Something?
-renam gets hired in a powerful company of many stuff
-boss convinces renam to stay with lots of money!
-boss asks renam to try to read a book in which boss had lots of problems to even read one word
-renam finds it as easy as reading whatever
-when he finds info about a certain relique boss asks renam to go get it wherever it is
thats the side of renam and how it conects with doctas side, in a quick break down
If that's the case, then it's more like Library of the Dead, in a sense...
yeah that d be the basic break down for them. atleast so far
But enough with that! You wanted world building? Ok. More or less what do you have in mind? Like, the level of technology development on both eras, general lore, all thos things
the world is basically a reflection of ours, different lands but essentially the same. just.. with you know these mutated animal people that talk and walk in two legs :V

im thinking the technology development to be a little hurried starting from doctas era, where most scientist started discovering some weird debris they could experiment with and start developing very primitive electronic circuits, but that wasnt paid much attention with since in that world the "magic source" is relativly easier to learn and is already there,
oh damn i forgot to tell you the name of the land XD
oh well. in Doctas era the whole country /kingdom is named Brundeveas, im uncertain if it changes over the time, whatever, it was named after the first lady that stablised her home there, the land is pretty hostile and dangerous, with deadly fauna and very cold weather generally, it was more of a unkown territory since nobody really wanted to pass thru it,
later merchant caravans from around the continent found it a pretty useful and time shorting route, over the time some little towns stablished and the main citadel of Brundeveas was funded in the center point of the country, originally as a resting point for travellers, the kingdom slowly began to be more wealthy and explored to make profit of its resources.
up to Renams era this way of doing things still exists but the terrain has become a little more arid where there were forests and plains, not to mention warmer. the citty became one of the biggest in its now unified with other nation-contries . there are many power hungry industries and most of those industries are lead by dragons, creatures that started appearing on doctas era, and are considered to be mystique of some sort, dragons tend to live thousands of years so they make their ways to the top of society and make sure to keep everyone else under their toes.
Reptiles like doctas arent native of this zone of the continent /world so they were pretty neglected and originally were bougth by a rich old man for slaving purposes, and since doctas era reptiles have kept an slightly hatred status from the rest of society, In renam's more modern era all those magic tricks people used to do were slowly left behind, still around but mostly ignored thanks to the technological advancement of the era. which had a boom in comformity and luxuries, also the study of brain potential is seriously focused on modern era
they can learn to use the dark energy force but it tends to be more violent and volatile in prescence of the ligth one
For the debris, well In doctas era it can be found throught several caves around the mountains of Brundeveas, some seem like rusted metal or unrecognizable scrap, explorers and scientifics just describe it as "out of this world " but most of later technology comes from this debris,

Im also a little troubled with that second point yet, all i haveso faris that. Doctas era there is ome sorcerer that had unleashed his own dark energy to the world, but in a very corrupt form thus hurting all balance existing at the moment
When it comes to renam there are varios organizations that oppose the one where renam worls for, one has more. Tehcnological ideologies and is one of the most advanced in the field of brain enhancement tech
The other one is a more old cult like organizqtion lead mostly by turtles who claim to be the keepers of balance and peace of their worlds, it is often trying to stop renam from gathering the reliques and also trying to exterminate him because he "is nothing b ut a chaos shaped as a cat who will only bring disspair to the world with its im-pureness"
The slaves were mostly a luxury of most rich men of Brundeveas and they were used for common things like buying groceries, homekeeping and building to more hearthless actz such as in shoothing ranges , they were found on activities where the original citizens wouldnt enjoy doing like farming or hunting, some would use them as living shields against the fierce creatures of brundeveas
By the time doctas was born theslave population had lowered considerably as most went wild and starte destroying the whole country, they grew tired and when they decided to do some justice some were left with blood thrist and decidded to form bands of pillagersthat affected gravely the economy and relative peace brundeveas had for a while, doctas grew a little isolated from all lf that in a little land owned by a rich family, ehere he was adopted by one of th e most hard working brothers, not to mention elder, when he started going to towns with him, he would be askex to cover is head often becaue the hatred for scaled peole had incremented in worrying numbers, he knew he was bekng outcasted, he wasnt sure why but it just happened (oh also he couldnt have the same luxuries the rest if hs adopted familiy had, neither could his adoptive parent, athry were only allowed to live in a house owned by the family) it made him wonder often what had he done for the world to hate him and grew always expecting some violent attittude towards him, making him always angry at almost any stranger, unsure if he could trust someone,there are still a few slaves but people tend to persecute them saying they would be some sort of spies for the most violent pillgers, other slaves were kept because families grew to love them as regular members. But this wasoften a strange case
Even after all of that doctas is an outcast with the rrest of scaled because pf his overallshape, he isnt vety gatorish looking and he Also was born very weak
this is pretty fun. the longest message really got me into the mood xD
If their souls are connected, would they be able to see what the other one sees or even communicate?
I also have a story in my head which is still not ready yet xD, it's been like 4 years and still nothing but just characters and random notes in my head

doctas is unaware of renam. renam knows about doctas because of old books and stuff like that he finds o:

Meanwhile, Doctas would have visions of the future, but the visions sometimes change because they haven't happened yet, so things he does in the past effects the future. To ensure the future turns out right, he needs to make sure the visions he sees come true or leads to it.
the main story arcs ares still a little scrambled up. i had already thought of some whys and hows but i kinda forgot to writte them up lol, so i wanted to develop more the world they live in o:, whay you say in half paragraph about doctas and the media its something more like what i was thinking :D but it doesnt just potray doctas like that, also every other comander (or rank of his same position. gotta make a good ranking system for his era xD) and some certain kind of species, for example. In this world and in both eras rats are one of the most hated species in the region, but they are also the most potentially smartest species around, hence why societe tends to knock them as down as possible, in renam era rats are more of poor or low class cittizens. mostly because the higher ends are afraid of them
the next step probably could be some avians, the middle classes are mostly full of mammals, changes according to the region (where the story takes place, theres a big demographic of canids, and they believe they are much higher than anything else) then comes most of the scalied beings such as little lizards, bigger ones like doctas arent native of the land, hence why they are a little more hated, then comes the rats with their superior inteligence but awfully depressed ideology
If they don't interact, why not have them be separate stories. You're separating the two by approximately 1000 years? Why? What does this accomplish? How do these things help tell the story you want to express?
The only book that I've read that dealt with this sort of plan was "The Seeing Stone" trilogy, where the protagonist sees a parallel world in his stone. It helps him come to terms with what's happening around him.
The major difference is that the parallel world "never happens" or is an alternate timeline, uses Arthurian Legend as a hook to draw reader's interest, in addition to having the whole thing set in the same time-frame. One of the unique storytelling properties of this is that the stone helps the main character, Arthur, experience his coming of age by witnessing "Arthur of legend". Each of the Arthurs foreshadow the other, and while one is not participating with the other, there is definitely a strong influence between them both.

Renam doesnt enjoy reading too much at first, when he was asigned to read doctas journals, thats how renam knows about doctas, but as time passes renam finds doctas story helpfull and makes him get in a deep internal journey to discover himself, changing his way to see the world and etc. character devolpment, he gets pretty emempathic with all those old journals lol
switching back and fort with these two characters helps to contrast on each other, at first the readers should know about the reliques as much as renam does, and by reading doctas side it gives more of a look to what it does, and a look to the world, perceived in two different manners, in escence doctas and renam got opposite objectives.
and of course i would like to have them as separate stories XD i have grown to like each other a lot but i like how i can just change of character in a moment and let readers know and be aware of how time changed the whole world to a point it looks unrecognizable
