Question: How do you pronounce the word 'minotaur'?
Minotaur - a word with two different pronunciations in English, and both seem to be rather common. But I am wondering... which pronunciation is the most common, and which pronunication does people tend to prefer?
Do you pronounce the i like in the word 'mint' or as in the word 'mind'?
I am curious to find out what you prefer the most.
I am interested in as many replies as possible. :)
Mind or mint?

FA+

I'm used to the Dutch ''Minotaurus'' and it has sorta the I from Mint in it.
I pronounce the i like the 'i' in 'mint'. Simpler.
It makes me feel like I'm saying they're mini, though, and that's so unflattering! xD
Mind
I haven't ever heard the first syllable pronounced like 'mine' like some of the posts above. Interesting.
Officially, according to Torvalds, the "i" in "Linux" is pronounced with an "ih", though I use "eye" personally.
In the case of our fair minotaur I personally tend to pronounce the "i" as an "eye" and not as "ih" or mint". Furthermore, I usually pronounce Minotaur as "M-eye-nah-taur". (As mentioned unfavourably by Toro above)
Sometimes, it's worth researching the aetiology of language to understand how it came to exist in order to figure these things out. Let's take a look...
Hmmm...
"Minotaur" would appear to translate as : Angry Cow
Unless the word Minotaur pertains to some relationship with Minos? In which case, the "i" being pronounced as an "eeh", Minotaur would be pronounced : "M-eeh-no-taur"
Have I just wrote a whole page of crap that hasn't raised our consciousness in any perceptible direction? Yes. That's pronounced "Superfluous waffle".
The options...
"M-eye-nah-taur" (Mind) ("Eye")
"M-eye-no-taur" (Mind) ("Eye")
"M-ih-no-taur" (Mint) ("Ih")
"M-eeh-no-taur" (Meep)
Upon review, I'd say that "Mint" leads to the most correct use of the language, even though mere habit will likely as not hold me hostage to "M-eye-nah-taur" (Mind) forever more.
