XKeyscore: The NSA can pull up anything on you online

Snowden gets asylum in Russia, which is known for it's gleaming human rights and free speech, but he did drop a bombshell today. Apparently, the NSA isn't sated with just phone records, but wants to know everything every American does online too...

This seems to be opposite of what NSA heads claimed in congressional testimony, which can be a felony.
Their word choice though seems to indicate that since it's a program that monitors, logs and stores the data for later searchable access, and since they don't access everyone, they seem to think it's okay and 'targeted'. This is a bit like a farmer estimating his crop yield by counting how many of his veggies are on his own plate. Just because you use x% doesn't mean you're overall structure is a targeted scalpel.
The long and short of it is the NSA systematically gathers info warrentlessly on every American (and because it seems to be a computer program, likely a lot of non-Americans), and can known when and what date you looked up what online. I'm not really sure if this logs cookies, or keystrokes, or what. They're watching, or at least saving to watch at a later date. Look up 'yiffy foxes' on google and they may know. Spent 2.4 hours on e621 and they might know. Type the word 'bomb' into an email to your mother, and you might get filtered.
Stay paranoid friends.
And just for fun let's make sure there's a ton of false hits for this journal!

I think it's very telling that the administration is going so hard against whistleblowers, and it seems like Snowden is far more deserving of whistleblower protection than Manning, IMO. Very strange and disconcerting that Holder apparently told Russia 'don't worry we won't execute' him to try to extradite him. That's an oddly specific quote, and implies they'll seek a massive jailterm for him.
Manning tried to be a hero, but he maybe conducted himself a little off, was young and idealistic and it showed. Still despite some needed revealing info, he violated his oath while active duty. He didn't aide the enemy, and that was clear to the military judge, but he deserves some punishment for abuse of his position, and Assange even never seemed that concerned with protecting him.
Snowden is kind of a different ballgame altogether, and as a civilian he has rights Manning does not, and a good portion of congress seems to agree that the NSA here needs more scrutiny than Snowden.
The administration though, seems to want to punish every and any whistleblower as hard as they can. Real shame there.
