Toyota Prius...the pros and cons that you are aware of.
I know the Prius has had a bad rap in the past for being expensive and prissy, but I'm looking for reliable info that is current...not based on 5 year old reports...personal experience would be awesome, but second hand reports are useful too.
I already know that while the repair costs on the Prius are slightly more than average, these repairs are fewer and far between.
Expensive battery replacement...fair enough, though these are hardly anywhere near the multiple thousands of dollars they used to cost to replace...and are good for up to 10 years or more (and savings in gas easily negate the cost of the replacement)
MPG...definitely savings on gas, which is directly proportional to how far you drive..the more you drive, the more you save, effectively.
Any information will be researched online through multiple sources to ensure validity/viability.
From what I've found through numerous searches online, bias towards the Prius is mostly cosmetic, and doesn't take into account everything.
Let's use the following outline, shall we, in responding to this ^.^
Have you owned a Prius? Yes....No, but have friends who do/did....No, this is info I've read/heard about.
Then go into details of what you've experienced, heard, seen, etc etc.

FA+

My mom just had some work done on her car to the total of 1111. My mate who is a mechanic said that he could have done the entire list that the dealer did in his shop for about half price. So basically, the dealership ripped her off.
The car is great in my opinion, and I love the great gas mileage. It does take some getting used to if you are not used to getting in a low riding vehicle. Otherwise, it rides smooth and for a little car has quite a bit of room.
Hopefully, others will see this journal so they don't get ripped off by the dealer. I will never take it to the dealer again unless it is the big battery that needs to be replaced or a recall that can't be done elsewhere. I trust my mate much more than the rip off called Toyota. LOL
Happy Buying!
We don't have to worry about car repairs on it for the next 6 years, minimum. Got a comprehensive warranty that covers literally everything that can go wrong with it.
From what we've discovered, the car is affordable and reliable, and yeah, dealerships will charge more than other places, but in our experience, other places are likely to fuck things up...if a dealership fucks up, they repair for free ^.^ At least the ones around here do.
