aw, I think I can imagine how they look like... I usually change poses with turnaround references to make them look less static, and it's enough chore already. :P

Protip: register those drawings and flip 'em like they're animation frames, then lay 'em out when they're all done. Especially if you've gotta do 3/4 views as well.

Buh they never want 3/4 views just T poses of front back and side and oh god it's boring and if the character has lots of details it just makes things so painful

I think right now it's the sheer need for absolute accuracy that's killing me. Generally when I do turnarounds for commissions I'm fairly accurate but I won't say I'm 100% all the time more so because they're in 3/4 view but at work everything has to be so perfect... sometimes I wish I could just talk to the modeler a little before he/she starts on it. @_@

I am guessing things are set up all super compartmentalized and spread out - possibly even many freelancers all over the net - so sitting down to share a cup of coffee with the modeler and discuss the characters is out of the question? Because having to sweat every single tiny detail and make it perfect sounds like a great way to burn out.

Would you believe it but we're all in the same building and the same floor. We just have really shit communication and an art director who micro manages and doesn't like it when you try communicating with the other artists. I think he feels that it's like we're going around him instead of through him? Whatever it is it's hella frustrating.

It has actually gotten to a point where I am strongly thinking of changing jobs? It's not because I can't handle the work; I most certainly can but for the first time ever it feels like I'm making a conscious decision that just because I'm not crumpling under these working conditions it doesn't mean I have to put up with them. And it's such a pity because this is supposed to be the biggest animation studio in my country but it's run by such wonky management.
