Hi, my name's Nargle
I like staring pensively into space, work 3 jobs, speak 3 languages, and I'm currently going to college for computer science. Sometimes, I'm not as in control as I think I am, and later today I got a little emotional after posting something I didn't think was too controversial.
The truth is, I haven't really been having the best of days. I've just been informed that I have to make additional payments to my college or risk not being able to attend the next semester, and on top of that I won't be able to take my favorite class unless 3 people in front of me decide to drop the class. Not to mention I work 16 hours per day, and sometimes more if my third job calls me in. With the dregs of time left for me between jobs and managing to sleep, I like to draw and study japanese, the former of which got me into a little trouble today.
Yesterday I posted a piece with my friend's character saying something many people seem to have a problem with. It wasn't meant so much as a joke, but as something to greatly contrast the cuteness of the character, but a good few people seemed to take it like I was trying to legitimize or make light of something I didn't know was a very touchy subject on FA: rape.
If you do a keyword search on the term, you'll find some of the most popular artists on FA draw pieces with this as the theme of the piece, from the dialogue to the very actions going on in the picture, even brutally depicted! Seeing this, I really didn't think it was such a hot button issue on the website. Now, I'm not talking about reality at all here, there's very clear reasons why that is wrong in all cases. But with the pictures on this website, it's all fantasy, and that's why I think I got so frustrated with all the sour comments.
I know a hell of a lot of people like their kink art non-consensual, be it vanilla sex, inflation, or anything really. So what makes rape fantasy so different? This is not to say I have a rape fetish at all, but really, if one character is acting against the other in order to do something someone may construe as sexual, is that not rape? I'm not so sure that people into non-consensual play in their artwork would think they're propagating rape culture or making light of it in the least, at least, this is what I think.
Can you see why I was a little twisted after getting a bunch of negative comments on my piece, which simply used the word rape, and didn't depict anything regarding the matter? Anyway, if you were truly disgusted by my choice of words, I apologize. I really didn't mean for it to hurt you, but please consider my side for a second, the side that spent a good portion of their free time drawing something he thought people might like.

When you're good at something, you're not supposed to listen to the raff.
The number of crazy and retarded humans out there severely outweighs the number of competent individuals.
You don't have to apologize to pointless and useless people.
To people who exist purely to be an inconvenience to those around them.
I hope things get better for you soon. All the best~
I get pissy comments all the time, I've even had people throw up tens or twenties of insulting shouts, horrible notes. http://i.imgur.com/uYlTx7U.png
No matter what it is you draw or do with your life, other people will object.
Did you forget you're gay? There are people out there who would want you dead for that.
Do you care what those humans think or believe? No! You know for a fact they're living trash.
You know those people exist for the express purpose of making the world a worse place for people to live in.
I cannot stress enough to you how unimportant taking other humans into consideration is.
The only way you can get what you want is to do exactly what you want no matter how much other people may object.
So long as you are not putting your life in any direct danger, you're doing it properly.
Well, that's more my personal belief anyways.
In order to live a happy life, sometimes you have to ruin the lives of others.
Pay it no mind.
You forgot to add "a wonderful friend", "a good artist", "a man who knows what he wants and will work as hard as it takes to reach his goals" and "adorable" to name a few.
Furthermore, I saw the drawing in question.
Other than the giant penis, there was nothing overly obscene and those who got offended are probably just "tumblr activists" looking for a fight to call their own...
Ignore them, draw what you want and be happy.
Also, if by some chance you do draw something offensive, your friends will politely let you know and we'll offer some good constructive criticism.
Because that is how we roll, cutie~ <3
there is enough to argue that "rape culture" is a real thing. Is it necessarily encouraging actual violent rape or violence against women/effeminate men? Maybe, but I don't know if we have enough evidence to say either way (considering pornography, including that of violent acts, has reduced the actual amount of sexual assault that's happened). However "rape culture" itself is really nothing more than stupid bros who don't understand the over-arching implications of what they praise and joke about, with the majority of them not truly believing what they say in regards to women, their treatment, and rape.
Not to say all participants of the social phenomenon don't participate in sexual assault, they still happen and some perpetrators are participants in the culture, and i agree that to claim any sexual contact (especially while both parties were intoxicated) is rape is bizarre and morally wrong, but there is the unfortunate truth that there is still plenty of rape and sexual assault that does happen in those circumstances, weather the perpetrator is willingly doing it or not.
I DUNNO I JUST SEE NO PROBLEM HERE -flips everything- Fucking furries.
