500GB Disk failed - ALL COMMISSIONS ON HOLD INDEFINITELY

Yea... what I hoped would never happen, just happened...
My external USB disk, FULL with 500GB of data, projects, pictures, photos, documents, logs, music, videos, every single piece of digital file you can POSSIBLY imagine... just failed...
Won't mount on MacOSX... won't even show up on Windows...
Those waiting for any art from me will have to wait until I can either:
a)- manage a way to recover my data (which is gonna cost me a fortune)
b)- redo everything...
...I hate my life...

From my experience, bad hard drives in USB boxes are difficult to recover files from. I've had better luck taking the drive out and hooking it up internally in the pc. Then try some file recovery software, OnTrack Easy Recovery has worked miracles for me.

it's not that bad to recover the data. the discs inside the drive can be taken out and placed into another drive to be recovered. you just have to take it to someone who knows what they are doing so they don't lose or (fuck up ) your data. I had to have it done once and it asn't as bad as I thought it was. just call around your local computer store (like we have ribbit computers here in wichita) and ask them what you can do about it.. they will help you out.
