Already at about the half way point with it, myself.
AND IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE IN THE GAME LOVES IT!
It took me a while to get the battle rhythms down, since I didn't realize you have to pretty firmly press the key and can't just lightly tap it to get the combos, but now I'm kickin' ass and mowin' grass.
I seemed to do much better when I was playing it on my gba, though.
Anyway, AHHHHHHHHHH
Also, just like when I played it without the patch, I can't save. :[
...or are you saying you can't even use the frogs?

Also, a month ago I ordered a slot-2 flash card just to play Mother, and it never came :[

Actually, I SRAM patched it on my folks' PC and now it works fine.

But STILL I'd rather play it on my DS. Ah, baby steps, I guess.
