RainFurrest will be my first con, too (aside Furlandia). I'm not sure what to expect, but I'll have to play it by ear and have a great time at RF. I love to hear the experienced con goers share their stories and tip, too. See you at RF, if not sooner in BC!

Well I have only experienced with Anthrocon, which is really big con, so much people to visit and so much stuff to do in so little time x3
I hope one day I will see other cons as well, but in big cons, you should be able see a lot of people and expect to have a lots of fun times ^^

well, i have been in FC once and twice in Califur. FC was the biggest for sure and what i found is that theres a lot of activities, and specially lots of people to meet! :) i think that the main thing is you try to get a small schedulle about what u wanna do , see, people to meet and events to attend, because theres so much there that soemtimes you get a lil overhelmed about what to do. Time flies and the con feels short, but if you have some priorities, it will be enjoyable and a blast!

Yes! Most definitely!

Having only done FC out of the two (will be doing RF first time in Sep as well), all I can say is that FC really is Huge in multiple ways. Just be prepared for tons (and I do mean tons given the space) of walking and elevator waits (unless you wish to take the stairs). But overall, 'tis a pretty good con :)

Whoa! I get to meet you next month? Awesome! I am no stranger to leg exercise. I cycle 20km a day, so stairs are nothing to me. Nothing.

and awesome! Sounds like you'll be set for roaming FC, too. Heads up though, you may want to keep close communication/plans with those you wish to meet with; (given it's right up with AC in attendance, it's easy to miss folks) 'lest you just wanna end up mindlessly roaming the halls, running into volleyballs.

That's really good advice about keeping in close communication with folks. I'll have a wireless mobile device, but no phone (we Canadians have the highest mobile phone charges in the world) so it would be a bit of a challenge.

The biggest one I've been to was MFF and it was my first con. It was a little overwhelming, especially when I came down with a case of the con crud that Saturday. I would suggest be organized on the events and panels you want to attend and make sure to schedule some time for rest, don't burn yourself out all at once.

Oooo... good advice. Staying well-rested will be important. I'll be sure to plan ahead for the events I want to go to - even with how small VancouFur was, I still didn't have time to do every event I was planning on going to.

RainFurrest is like VancouFur times 5, and FC is like VancouFur times 10.
So much to do, so many people to meet, so little time.
I like to plan around all the scheduled events... but many things happen unscheduled.
There are many private room parties, for small groups of friends, that don't appear on
any schedules... but you may see posters up on the walls when you get there (when
people learn what hotel room they are in). Set up a rendez-vous to see people you
want to meet, because with thousands of people, it's easy to miss someone. Just
have fun!

Good suggestions for any con. Don't get drunk on Friday night. Most good stuff happens on Saturday. Look over the schedule for things/people you want to see. Don't miss the fursuit parade. The provided entertainment is usually pretty cool. I also suggest that you figure out a way (in advance) of getting in touch with other furs, because at a big con, you might have time finding them. If others don't want to give out their numbers for texting, then have a "clearing house" fur who can do all the texting for everyone. Figure out convenient meeting points. Get to the artists early if you want art by a particular popufur artist, otherwise you may miss out. I would stay away from the drugs. Drink moderately to thoroughly enjoy the experience over the long haul. Hang out in hallways because crazy stuff happens there with fursuiters a lot. Don't annoy the guests of honor. They will be swamped by everyfur there for attention. If you know them, or if they actively engage you in conversation, then it's OK, but don't expect to "hang out" with them. You can send them an FA note later telling them how nice it was to meet them. Eat real food at least twice a day. Shower every day. Get at least 6 hours of sleep every night. If you don't, you will stink, be grumpy, be dull witted, and probably wear yourself down and catch con crud. There are tablets to boost your system if you are going to be around lots of other people. I cannot recall the name of the stuff right off the top of my head. Hang out with your friends to reverberate the experience of the con. Being alone is not so much fun, even in fursuit.

I've only been to Califur this past year, was my first con. It was kind of a scattered time for me, as one of the friends I was there with was claiming ill health and I was concerned and was kind of looking out for him most of the con.

I'd say, be organized about events you want to attend and people you want to meet. Even a middle-sized con can get one confused and lost in time and space.

Also, don't be shy about special invitations if they come up. I ended up at DisneyLand with a couple of furries on Sunday of the con, and it was a real blast. There isn't a DL equivalent in Seattle, but be open to special extra-convention invites if they come your way.

Mostly... drinks. We will be meeting up for drinks and whatever else.

RF 2009 was my first furcon. My suit was half-made, I got a lot of advice on finishing it, and it was there that I met furries who introduced me to the BC community.

One thing about making plans... the best laid plans of mice and... wolves, foxes, ... often go awry. Especially at furcons.
