Working life, health and recovery. [advice needed]

Probably soon to be main account ~~~~~>
Tiel <~~~~~~ So I'm stuck with my job for a bit longer I appreciate that. I've cut the shifts down to a tolerable number I can function through well enough. I was wondering about moving back to Nottingham but that means going back on benefits and depending on my parents. I would rather remain independent.
The problem that would be useful for me to address is the recovery after work. Often It takes me up to a day to get all my marbles back. during that time I'm pretty lethargic and the art I produce is unsatisfactory even if I'm adding to a picture I already started. So I want any advice on how to overcome this, that day I spend a bit groggy is valuable time I'm wasting.
Points to note:
- Erratic hours and shift patter make scheduling sleep neigh on impossible. some shifts are 14 hours, some shifts start at 1am some shifts finish at 1am.
- Getting my 5 a day. this last month I've pushed myself to finally break through into eating more fruit, less sugar.
- eat mostly oranges and pineapples for fruit. I.. do eat poridge but it bores me as a food :<
- I cycle to work (20 mins per trip) after which I spend 2 hours on average in a car to reach the site.
- I can unwind and get a fair enough deep sleep afterwards but I lack the ability to sleep past 8:30 am to catch up.
I'm looking around on the net of inter but thought I would throw this up here incase anyone has any suggestions. perhaps certain foods or perhaps eating certain things before I go to bed. more exercise? etc anything really would be useful.
Thanks :>

However the only way I can day chore is with a calender and alarm clock o:
Maybe you need to work out what inspires your art inside you? Clearly at least some lust, so try some 'horny goats weed' before you sit down? *giggles*
Does anxiety impede your work? Ginseng is the active ingredient of a lot of anxiety meds.
Other than that? Cocoa improves brain function by causing increased blood flow and is a science proved study aid o:
Anxiety really does impede my work at times. I'm no where near as bad as I use to be and generally I get anxious over my touchy stomach and a bit of malabsorbtion It would seem. Had spent years trying to figure out what was actually wrong with my stomach but malabsorbtion can persist even after the original issue (such as gluten intolerance) yay Cocoa! :D I should get some dark choc, I've done well cutting down on sugar. but I hear coca can aid deeper sleep as well.
Your work schedule reminds me of a buddy's schedule. 12 hours swing shifts it was. There's no way I've heard to deal effectively with some a erratic as that. I'd suggest looking into power naps. Getting a little extra snooze during the daytime could help on the productivity and stress angels. http://stress.about.com/od/lowstres.....a/powernap.htm
Good to hear about the 5 a day. If you don't already eat fresh apples or bananas you might want to check them out. You got your Vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber. Fruit in general gives a little pick me up energy boost. Try munching them as a snack or as part of a meal. On other food, look online and try out some recipes. With the porridge, could try putting in some of the fruits or maybe put some spice in their to mix it up a little. Perhaps some cinnamon? http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?.....ce&dbid=68
Try not to eat ~2 hrs before sleeping. It hinders the digestive process by lying down and that could make it harder to fall asleep or perhaps not feel so hot in the morning. http://www.livestrong.com/article/4.....thy-digestion/
I don't know what type of job you have at the moment, but if you don't have much physical exercise from it, get up and move around. Get the blood flowing and pumps a working. A few minutes here and there keeps you limber.
With the sleep schedule, if you want to adjust do it at a gradual pace. http://www.wikihow.com/Adjust-Your-Sleep-Schedule
I hope some of this helps.
I've added apples to my diet now, I went and bought a bunch today after posting this journal. Always been iffy with apples, an annoying lil childhood thing where I bit an apple and a worm like thing popped his head out (luckily I hadn't bitten into him x3) but it always flashed into my mind when I'm about to bite into a whole apple so I'm chopping them up into easy lil fingers now and cinamon! I had no idea it had calcium in it. I don't drink much milk so yeah that'll be handy.
Adjusting my sleep schedule. I have never had a problem with this. I'm usually pretty good my only problem is my inability to sleep in. no matter what time I go to sleep I almost always will wake up at 8:30 if it wasn't for rgis I would have a pretty reliable midnight bedtime.
I was wondering about the eating. Often I miss the chance to eat at work at a normal time so I get home quite hungry or eat my sandwiches on the way home.
The job I have is stock auditing.. you sorta move around a bit but nothing.. extraneous. mostly repetitive
when you guys say cocoa do you meannn actual dark chocolate? or a supplement type deal?
Magic flowers will help!
As far as getting to sleep, I honestly just do something or put on something really boring; just try not to keep yourself too interested in anything and it will come easier
