i can't take this. i swear. remember that last journal where i said i was attacked by a spider, so i'm scared to go over and work at my desk? well just about 20 minutes ago, there was one of those creepy silverfish/house centipede/whatevertheyare things ON MY BED. it got away, then i found it and killed it, but i can't take this. now i'm not going to sleep tonight, and i'm all paranoid. this is aweful. sometime this week or next weekend, i'm going to have to get someone to help me thoroughly clean out and rearrange my room (granted, my room is really pretty clean and organized, but i'm not taking any chances here). i'm horribly arachnophobic, but really, the more legs something has then the more scared i am of it. so THESE things....i just can't. i'm so freaked out. i wish i could go over to a friend's house tonight cuz there's no way i'm going to be able to sleep in my room, but they're all asleep now >.< i'm scared to be in my room at all at this point, but i don't trust being out in the livingroom all night either. i think tomorrow though, i'm going to end up drawing out there on the couch so that i don't have to be in my room/at my desk. i just can't draw there on the weekends cuz my mom would get freaked out by all the...."questionably rated content" that i draw. but anyway. gonna go back to freaking out and wishing my friends were awake to take me away from here... *curls up and quivers*

EDIT: OH MY GOD THERE WAS ANOTHER ONE!!!!!! IT WAS ACROSS THE ROOM ON THE FLOOR AND NOT ON MY BED, BUT STILL!!! MY ROOM IS BEING TAKEN OVER BY BUGS!!!! I HATE SUMMER!!!!! (it is now dead also)

If it makes you feel better, house centipedes scare the crap out of me too. I'd try to describe one to make sure we're talking about the same thing but I don't want to freak you out any more then you already are.

ohmigod i was describing to my one friend before he went to sleep so that he could look them up for me so i wouldn't have to look at pictures, and it was just terrible!

oh god no that would be terrible!!! mine doesn't actually have a REASON, thank god, it's just always been there. things with more than 4 legs just shouldn't exist, they just freak me out >.<

that's true, they all have their places. as long as their outside and not on me, i leave bugs alone. it's once they come in my space that i freak out *nod* and mosquitoes...that's a good point. all they do is transmit diseases >.<

Time to get the +2 boots of bug stomping I guess. I haaaate spiders, and I live in the sticks... so they're all over. D:
We've got huge giant garden spiders hanging out by the porch-light that are starting to look at me with that hungry gleam in all eight of their eyes. -weeps in terror-

uuggghhh *shudder* i live in the city (though it's a smallish city) so i probably don't have nearly as many as you, but we always get these big fat spiders chillin making their webs under the awning around the light of the side door (aka, the only door). i always freak out that they're going to fall on me when i hope the door. it's awful. but at least THOSE one are farther away. now that they're in my room....... *goosebumps everywhere*

After it rains, I usually find a GIANT wolf spider SOMEWHERE in my office..... It creeps me the hell out. They are freaking HUGE! and fast!

I hate living in FL with all the bugs!

Yeah there was a huge wolf spider in my bathroom, and before that an equal sized one in my kitchen. Oh yeah can't forget the creepy six inch long millipede that was a weird jet black and cherry red color in my garage. It crunched horribly and was neon green on the inside.

I'm gonna be a butt to you...silverfish are tiny and silver and teardrop shaped with the head being the wider side. And house centipedes can be tiny or up to a few inches and they have legs everywhere and look like a long flying carpet when they move xD I'm kinda freaked by them myself, but just hoping to let you know the difference. I dunno. I'm gonna go back to my quiet corner now. ; 3;

okay no that's good, that's what i thought! my mom always called them silverfish so i grew up calling them silverfish, but i'm like 95% sure that these things are house centipedes! i just never knew the difference cuz i was too freaked out to look them up and no one i know knows the difference! so now i know what they are! and THEY'RE SO FREAKY AND FLUFFY LOOKING!!!!!

Wait til' you wake up in the middle of the night cause you have a itch on your face and it turns out to be one of those just chillin' on you. I used to live in someone's basement so I can tell you some pretty scary stories involving insects.

I can give you links to pictures if you want me to. I don't want to make you freak out or have an anxiety attack or something though. Silverfish are usually a bathroom pest, or basement. Anywhere that it gets and stays pretty damp. And they are tiny tiny tiny. Like a centimeter or less.

i will totally do without the pictures XD but i'm happy someone finally cleared that up for me, because i've been confused about the difference for a while, especially because where i live it's really humid aaalllll the time and i've caught these thingers in the bathroom. i figured these weren't silverfish though because i've seen like 3-4 inch long ones and they're all rusty/black colored. but the little ones are silvery! so i wasn't sure if they were different things or if they just got darker as they got older. but they all look fuzzy and centipede-y so it's probably the second thing, now that i know what silverfish actually look like

Silver fish have only six legs. Two long antennae and three...I dunno what to call them...butt antennae. :I They are creeps. All of them. Bugs. Except moths.

oh god my house was infested with these horrible little cream colored moths for YEARS. it was awful. i got really good at killing them and their creepy little larvae. hmm....apparently my house just has a history of bugs. which is actually really weird cuz my house is really clean O.o but anyway! i love moths of the varieties that weren't in my house. and butterflies. they're so cool. but silverfish and centipedes and most other bugs and bug-like things? nopenopenopenope

You can buy these little cans that will fumigate your house and kill tr bugs in it, you just need to clear out if the house for a couple of hours and set them up on a piece of paper so the last bit of stuff doesn't stain anything, oh and also clear out any let/lock them in a room with all the entrances blocked with towels n such

When I was about 12, I was working down in North Carolina with my dad doing construction work. Well we were staying in this shack more or less that my dad bought so we would waste money on living out of a hotel room for three months.

To say the least, this shack was terrible. Well I woke up one morning with a huge red bump on my arm. I thought it was a mosquito bite or a spider bite so I paid no attention to it.

Well over time the bump never really went away, and eventually started to swell even more. So my dad took me to a doctor to have my arm looked at. At this point it was almost the size of a golf ball. The doctor starting looking at it and goes, "Oh! I see what's going on. Give me a minute."

He walks back with a needle and a scalpel. Gives my arm a shot to numb the area, then just as he starts to insert the knife onto the swelling. An explosion of baby spiders erupts from my arm. The doctor just goes, "Oh, seems you had this for longer than I thought. I should have warned you about what might happen." All the while I am screaming my head off while I have baby spiders all over me.

Eww, I hate those things! We get them in our basement a lot over the summer along with spiders. Thankfully, we have this huge thing of bug spray that you're supposed to spray about every other month, but I spray it like every week lol.

i hear Washingtop state and Alaska are pretty bug free, except for mosquitoes >.< i dunno where else though. honestly, i'd take the mosquitoes for all the amazing scenery, since they rarely bite me anyway

I live just south of Seattle, and it seems like I have quite a lot of spiders, but they don't bother me at all. I've found our mosquitoes aren't too bad. They are slow mosquitoes, so if you're out hiking in the woods, you can avoid them by simply walking away.

Alaska, I was under the impression is bug-free while cold, but once it warms up, watch out. Swaaaaarms

haha well i went to alaska in the middle of summer a few years ago, and the only bugs i ever saw were mosquitoes. they were OMG HUGE SWARMS of mosquitoes up in the mountains while hiking, but i was there for 2 weeks and ever even got one bite, so.... (oh, and that was right around the anchorage area, so i'm not sure how it is in other places)

i hate summer as well! but the pest i get often is a false click beetle, they can be annoying when they bang themselves on something hard.

i have never heard of those o.o we get lots of cicadas here, which are incredibly annoying though luckily not harmful and usually stay OUTside. so i don't mind them too much XD

they're a small bug, they can like flick their upper body to make a click sound. i didn't know about them till i found them in my room!

okay so i just made the terrible mistake of googling it to see if i'd ever seen one before, and it resulted in a shiver and an "ohmigod, it's so creepy" XD i'm hopeless. but that's actually really interesting! though i can see how they'd be annoying, especially if they're around the house clicking somewhere but you can't find them

I used to have a bigger arachnophobia, but I'm better at controlling it. Spiders actually are your friend - until they get in your hair the DIEDIEDIE... but seriously, the one you killed might have caught the houce centipedes. that is its role, catcher and eater of worse bugs.

Now, actual help: buy stickyglue traps and lay them under your bed, at corners, inside a closet. They can catch them nicely. Ask someone else to check and dispose of them, obviously. Moms are good for that. *grin* This allows your brain to know that Something Is Being Done, and it may relax enough to sleep.

I'm glad you weren't at my work a few weeks ago. We were attacked by an infestation of cement ants. Doesn't sound like much, but those mo' fo's are HUGE. Then the exterminator came, and we were finding dead bugs around the shop for about a week >.< It sounds weird, but I would much rather find a live bug that I can kill than a dead one. Had the heebie jeebies for a good long while.

a good friend of mine keeps a jar of cinnamon sitting out because it repels those silverfish things.
