Broadband delayed.

General
Well, it seems my broadband has been delayed. Due to some problems with the type of line I have, the original order has been cancelled. I will probably have to go with a dry loop to get something to work, and re-place the order. Unfortunately this route will cost a bit more in the long run, but still less than I'm paying now for dialup and far more functional than my dialup is now.
Also, I now have my modem ready to go which I need to set up and re-arrange some wiring to make it work, which shouldn't be too big a deal.
After waiting 10 years, having it within sight is so much easier!

Yay for finally getting broadband! Such a glorious thing to have compared to dial-up.

Agreed. Even though cable companies like to advertise how slow DSL is, /any/ broadband is much faster than dial-up.

As it stands, I'll be getting 10 megabit DSL. In the future, or possibly even now I could probably have them run fibre as well.

Holy crap. I think that's faster than what we get here. Awesome!!!

It's DSL provided over Fibre right up to the boxes along the highway. 10 megabit is just the beginning. ;)

...Now I'm envious. Wish we had some of that goodness.

OP
They made a point of trying to future proof it. If they just installed copper DSL, when Fibre became the standard for broadband, we'd find ourselves in the same boat. Watching broadband internet moving to the 10+megabit range and us stuck with 5 - 6 megabit. The whole thing would repeat itself as copper DSL became the new equivalent to what dialup is now. So, with that in mind, they installed fibre and are distributing DSL over it, which allows them to expand it to Fibre to the home when its prudent to do so. :)

It will be for sure. It will be something to get used to. No more rushing to get all my browsing in while at a hotspot.

*hugs* At least you can get it eventually.

That's the theory anyway. Hopefully they won't reject it given that we have a business phone line again whatsoever. If so that would mean we would have to wait until like March next year. >.<
