artists that open up for art trades but are choosy about who they'll trade with make me frown. all i can ever see it as is a sense of superiority over artists they don't deem to be on the same skill level as them. like 'if you draw my character and it doesn't look good enough, but i draw something from my amazing well of talent for you, it's a waste of my time'. it just seems really snooty to me.
i'm not trying to argue that no artist should do this because it's your art, your account, you do what you want with it. but i guess it's also my right to have less respect for an artist if i see them doing that. and that's typically what happens is i lose respect for the artist.
BUT HEY WHAT'S MY RESPECT WORTH TO YOU ANYWAY? *mumbles* ya uppity so-and-so...
btw this rant didn't come about as a result of me being turned down by an artist. i won't even offer to trade with an artist who posts "OK I WANNA TRADE WITH SOME PEOPLE but i'm gonna be choosy about who i trade with!" offering to trade with an artist ought to be stress-free; it shouldn't be like submitting your portfolio to be considered for an art show or artist alley. you're not even getting anything more than a picture from someone else out of it, so why waste that energy?
so hey... as a final note, if you read this and were offended, do us both a favor and just click out of my journal page and continue your usual fa business. cuz in all likelihood i don't care to hear your opinion. friendly debate is ok though. i'm always cool to try to see things from other peoples' perspectives.

I feel like if you're giving art to anyone that you should put effort into it, maybe not a super crazy painting or anything but at-least the effort that shows you thought about it.
I agree with you, I don't mind trades but I feel like I usually just like trading with personal friends too. XD
