So yeah! Definitely Novik's best work since Victory Of Eagles. It's so good to see proper, Napoleon-era battles again!
And yeaaaaah, I'm really, really wanting to write some Novikverse fiction. :)

Hehe, I finished reading it the day I got it, loved it quite a bit, although, I was confused, I dont know if I was reading it right, but, it made me think Granby is a couple with Little, a character I dont really recall before this book. Also, I am left wondering if he has all his memories back, or not, but I guess the next book might answer that, I admit, I liked how they went a bit more into the coupling of Tem and Mei^^;

OP
You are correct; Granby is with Little; they're both inverts, as was established in Crucible of Gold. I don't blame you for not remembering much of him, though. Little, Sutton, Chenery, and the other middleweight captain have gotten little screentime. The last we really had of them, aside from bits at the end of Crucible of Gold, was Empire of Ivory, when the whole formation went to Africa.

Ahh, I must have not been sure when reading the crucible of gold then, but, hehe, I do like Granby, it is a shame at what happens near the end of the second book, but, hehe, I look forward to see what the next book might be.
