Pet peeve / venting. Part Deux

General
Got off school early. Noticed alot of people commented on the last journal, so I thought I'd elaborate, lest I inadvertently hurt feelings / bolster egos.
But, after readin' the TOS/SA/AUP (wanted to make sure me uploading non-furry models was a-ok), I began to think. After helping Blackshine with a movie export problem, I ended up thinking harder.
I went and looked at some of the chaps who claim to be 3d modelers. I realize I'm going to sound like a pompous elitist jackass, but in my opinion it needs to be said. At least three-quarters of the '3d modelers' on FA, are just people who use Poser so they can upload porn to their galleries and get views. It's not 3d modeling at all. They are, frankly, just posers.
Now, I wouldn't be offended if they were people with a legitimate interest in getting better at modeling or animating, but in most of the cases, it's just people doing what they can for attention and offers of assistance are typically rebuked, sometimes with incredible hostility. It does not matter where the advice comes from, whether it be a fellow Poser-user or someone with post-secondary or even industry experience. I think it's a very, very bad thing for a group of 'artists' when one is normally surprised when someone is receptive, or even asks for advice.
Those people, the ones that don't want to improve, or just want the exposure from having 3d porn in their galleries, aren't 3d modelers. Well, I should elaborate. The people that use assets they downloaded or bought from other people who actually DID learn how to model and animate characters, and show no interest whatsoever in improving or learning the trade, should not call themselves 3d modelers. They give those interested in the craft a bad name, or a dubious one at the best.
Using someone's assets to make your own work in 3d modeling, without credit or without even trying to learn, is right on par with tracing when it comes to 2d art, or riff-ripping when it comes to music.
Where am I going with this? I just felt the need to vent. I've been modeling to some extent for five, six years give or take. Each year I've been increasingly involved in it, including three years at post-secondary, and at this stage in my life I'm planning a career in it. I've had to work my ass off to get to the point where I am, only to see people who probably don't even know what a polygon is, and just click-and-drag sliders until they get big tits and cocks, get hailed or fav'd as "great modelers/animators".
And I'm curious. Why are so many of the poser-chaps out there so unreceptive to advice or help of any kind? Like I stated earlier, it's at the point I find it surprising when I see someone doing 3d work asking for help, or responding positively to advice.
In closing, I hope I haven't been too vague. There are modelers out there who do great jobs, animators as well. There are plenty of people who are also interested in learning, and have the guts to ask for help (which in 3d work seems to be like coming out of a closet). It's just a damn shame almost all of them are buried under a glut of generic-fox Poser porn.

FA+

Attention on FA is weird. Theres a guy on my watch list that's posted a few commishions he's recieved, but he has over 10,000 pageviews. Personally its kind of like xbox live gamer points/achievements. Might be good for an ego boost but is ultimatly useless.
You see so many "artists" with like a million BFF's (Best friends forever) and their art is pretty mediocore and doesn't get better. And if you give advice it gets thrown at you.
And for them begin unreceptive to criticism.. well.. I guess it depends on how constructive it is and how defensive they are as a person. Also how serious they are. You know those "lulz" murry furry purries who are silly and try deflect anything serious you say to them.
All you can do, is offer a helping paw and some advice. If they don't take it, just let do what they do.
Anyone.. from an artist extraordinaire to average Joe, knows when something looks crap. Most bad artists know when their art is bad.
I know at least 4 or five people that are watching me that knew the answer to my question, but not one comment came till you.
It's the situation we are drowned in. And it's why allot of these people break in ith no willingness to learn the further depth of there feild. They don't want to know, they just what that slice of the fame pie.
I'm learning, I pick up things, I experment with poser (Or in my case DAZ) figures to understand how things work in a 3D world and program, but I always give credit to the hard work all the other people (The various creators of the base portions of the figures, Ranard for fusing them in another program, his texture work.) It's the ones that don't an always use the same tired things again and again, and don't even try to upgrade, improve, edit the figures to something more then... How did you put it, Generic fox porn, without thought of lighting, shadow, depth, clipping, polystrain, bunching, yeah, those bother me a lot too.
What do you feel my workings falls into. Or rather mine And Ranard's?
Tho I would insist you to get to know Ranard. You seem very level headed and remind me of him in a lot of ways.
But thank you. I feel better now and more confident in my craft. *kisses*
