BLFC in Reno can easily do this... the hotel/casino has a bowling alley, go karts, mini golf all that allows fursuit use.

All of this sound like great ideas, almost to the point where you're reading my mind! XD Have big toys and props for the fursuiters to play with, plenty of spots to cool off, and to have it during a cooler time of the year.

Maybe have the con in an area where the fursuiters can walk outside to get some pics, and possibly even interact with the public. For indoors, lots of all open walking space is a given. Maybe even have some food\drinks for the con goers, provided that they pay a little extra at registration.

By now there's so many existing cons, that you can't worry too much about schedule clashing. Just try to "squeeze" into the middle as much as possible between other cons.

Ya, well I think as fursuiters that are very active, we KNOW what's fun and what isn't. Parades suck. Interaction with public is awesome! :)

This is an awesome idea! Except those who don't have fursuits would probably feel left out, like myself, but I would still love to go to something like this!

I'm loving these ideas, but I think non fursuiters should still be allowed to attend, simply because so many non-suiters would want to go. However the events and designated rooms and such should be strictly fursuiters only, I can just imagine a hall full of fluff, void of human activity XD it would be cool

I like it - but for me a lot of my fun is having tons of non suiters around to entertain. I'm not sure if I'd like this more than a regular con as a result.

I think having access to a public place would be amazing as well, ie a park or some where nearby in which fursuiters could easily walk to/from would also be vital. LOL as I think of more and more things that would make this a great con, that severely limits the location and time of year!

Cons do a lot for FSers already are regular cons so bad to FSers? I suppose any con would be happy to accommodate anything if enough people asked for it but it seems staffing it is a big deal, much less staffing a whole con around one facet of the fandom.

Don't get me wrong, if people wanted to spend money to do their own thing, I'm all for i, I just thing maybe in discussion it sounds better than it would in execution.

1) I don't think your average fursuiter is in suit enough at a con or perhaps even not suiting at a con as much as they want because the cons aren't fursuit friendly enough. I'm sure some cons would be open to the 'track' for FSers at con being enhanced but it has to be staffed and planned.

2) I'm sure a fursuit themed con would bring some, but would it be a requirement? If so I think the fandom in general would not be as receptive as we all know, the biggest haters of furry are furries and they just look for a reason to pounce. :3

3) Cons seem to be becoming slowly more of a fursuiting even in many ways as it is. Aside from some usual things (Story hour, etc) and useless fluff to fill in panels (wolf spirituality, please give me a break! :3) there is an lot more than costumers to see and so on aside from the most important aspect which is meeting up with and sending time with friends. This is up to and including some friends

In the end I suppose if people have the funding and want to do it, it's their money but there are so many cons, it would be difficult to find a good slot / location I would think.

To me it's surprising you sound unhappy with how things are. You seemed fine with how cons go and in any case a lot of you do a lot of card playing when you get together anyway. Would you be suiting a lot more in some other circumstances?

You may find it is well received on an expanded idea of more than just ways to goof around in costume but focusing intensely on performance (Something lost in modern times) and other aspects like construction, etc.

Money, staff, date and location are all you need to try though.

1) I feel that most cons obviously have to cater to fursuiters, since there is about 20% of attendees that wear fursuits. Having said that, there are so many cons where I just walk around aimlessly in the hallways with nothing really to do in fursuit other than wave and mingle a bit.

2) Once again, geared heavily TOWARD fursuiters. It's not about attracting tons of people, it's for fursuiters and enjoyment of fursuiting :)

3) I'm just saying that I've never gone to a con thinking "OH WOW, think of all the great fursuiting opportunities I can have with the public and in the fursuit games, etc." Back in the day, I used to think the FC Critterlympics were THE ones to be apart of, but any more, it's not a huge draw for me. Ideas that really whetted my interest solely based on the con: ESG/BFLC (awesome locations, different venues, loads to do), MP - The GoHs and new venue (THe Worldgate was way overdue for us to move from), CFz when they moved hotels, and EF if it would be back in the Ringburg, since that's just an amazing location. Otherwise, cons are very homogeneous. Feral! is NOT a fursuit friendly con, but still very fun and unique. Wild Nights has some flavors of Feral to it, but more civilized. But really, nothing has perked my interests to make me want to go to a new or different con.

So anyway, it's fun to throw around ideas :)

Cons have gotten so standardized now with the same events, rooms and panels. And when one con does something new and it's successful (Like FWA's dance contest), sooner or later every con has it.

You idea sounds like fun, but I think attendees will get bored if you dont have some non-suiting events and maybe some fursuit oriented panels. And not everyone wants to be in suit all of the time (Imagine the smell!! - Just Kidding).

The closest to a "warehouse" I've seen at a con was at FWA when it was at the Hyatt Hotel in 2009-2010. They had a huge room and some toys but not many.

LOL OMG the smell ATTRACTS attendees! (JUST KIDDING) but no, once again, I'm not advocating 100% fursuiting only, just geared heavily toward. Have things like Mini golf or a play area where fursuiters and non-fursuiters alike can use them :) I always loved dodgeball, make it an open area, 6 on 6 with 3 fursuiters and 3 non fursuiters battling it out. Have a Wii station or a Kinect station set up for people to have fun with in an out of fursuit, have a great location for photo ops, etc :)

Doesn't Elliot's Spring Events already do something like this? I've never attended any of them.

Can we get a big squeaky toy area too with several inflatable obstacle courses and bouncy castles? I mean, since we are throwing out ideas and stuff? And maybe get  stunttiger to set up his jump area for folks to do jumps? And perhaps get some of the fursuit builder studios a huge area so furs could come in and "build their own handpaws" and stuff - learn from the pros workshops?

Of course, non-suiters would have to be encouraged to attend as well, since so many suiters act their craziest when they have an audience.

Or....we could all just show up at your house.

It looks like a good idea on paper but I don't think it would really work out. First of all, how many suiters would be willing to stay in suit for that long of a period? And is it going to be suiter only? If so, you've just alienated a majority of the fandom. If non-suiters are allowed what are they going to do for entertainment? You can only take so many pictures before you start to get bored. There's also no financial incentive to show up. There's no artist's alley, no chance to sell your wares. I think that would also keep some people away, especially those who run their own business. And then there's the fact that a lot of people go to cons for friendship and comradery. If everyone's busy fursuiting, where's that going to end up? There's no room to just meet and hang out. The problem, I think, is that you're over specializing. I think a con should appeal to the entire fandom. And while I admit that some cons lean more towards certain aspects than others they still make an effort to appeal to everyone. What you're suggesting is to focus exclusively on only one subset of the fandom, one that only a small portion participate in. And that brings me to another point. For this thing to work out long term you would need to draw enough fursuiters to make the whole thing financially viable. A first year con might bring in two or three hundred people but since you're banking exclusively on suiters I'd be very surprised if you made that. Thus, I don't think it would survive beyond one year because it simply won't make enough money to continue.

I like the idea of events to encourage fursuiters to participate. I have thought about it and I also see it as a con basically being what they are now with just some extra activities that fursuiters could enjoy without excluding anyone as suiters and non suiters could join in.

There's multiple cons happening every month, so schedule conflicting isn't really that much of a concern (unless it's during AC or something). But I really REALLY love the idea of a fursuit heavy con (and not just having two parades or something). I greatly enjoy cons that have a focus on fursuit games and fursuit related things, so I would love to go to a con with a focus on that, especially if it had a giant fursuit play room! Fursuit ball pit? YES PLEASE! ^^

Plus I think non-suiters would love it too, because it's constant fursuit related entertainment! Unless they don't like interacting with or watching fursuiters (in which case going to a fur con in general would be tough) ;)
