I just want to put this out there, because I'm still on a high from it.
I went to see this today, and let me just put it this way.
I saw Pacific Rim, and I still think THIS is the best movie I've seen all year. I love it.
As a horror fan, and also a fan of the home-invasion subgenre, this really delivers in spades.
and it really becomes more than just your average slasher. the 2nd act really ramps up the drama and it's so satisfying, and a very well rounded story to boot without any major loose ends.
The one thing I DON'T get is why all the reviews are calling it a horror-comedy or a black-humor movie. I really didn't get that vibe, it just felt to me like a movie made by guys who love the genre. It's being compared to Cabin in the Woods, which I actually didn't think was so great to be honest.
But I digress. I really recommend it if you're a horror fan. It really reminded me of one of my other favorite horror movies, The Strangers

Which I also highly recommend if it pops up on netflix or you can find a copy. I really like to see "You're Next" as sort of a spiritual successor to Strangers even though I know it wasn't made for that purpose.
