Rayman

Kinda surprised, in all honesty. Those who know me know that as far as games go, platformers are neither my strong suit nor even games I really enjoy. I don't dislike them, but I tend to find most platformers (like just about anything with Mario in the name) really lacking in character.
Rayman Origins, however, is quite a breath of fresh air in the stagnant room that is 2D side-scrolling platforming. Every musical score is fantastic, the environments are beautiful, the controls handle fluidly, and the toony style and character expressions give the game personality and a fun atmosphere.
Plus, I'd totally do Rayman. For srsly. Even with him being a quadruple amputee with his hands and feet magically floating in proximity to his body.
As of posting this, Steam is offering Rayman Origins for free with the pre-purchase of Rayman Legends, available to play in about 3 and a half days. I picked it up despite not being a fan of platformers due in part to Yahtzee's review of Origins, which was admittedly more than a year ago, done in conjunction with Super Mario 3D land, but it really stuck with me. I don't always agree with everything he says about every game, but I do respect him as a game reviewer, so I figured it would be worth a try. Plus you get two games for cheaper than what one game usually costs nowadays :P
