the police around here are worthless as tit,s on a boar they told a friend of mine her and i quote *we don,t protect the people we protect society* the managers on the other paw can keep a sharper eye out and alert others in the park

Both are kinda risky as someone could wrestle them away from you and use them on you. If you had to use a blade, you gotta be careful as obviously your liable in most states for assault or worse even if you are defending your home. But if you have to, a sturdy blade that you can tuck in is good. Holding it out will make it easy for someone to block or grab your arm to stop you, but if you tuck it into your body and charge forward, that means they would have to stop you rather then just your arm. Of course, if they have a weapon, its a good way to get yourself hurt or worse.

A self defense class would not hurt either.

So, you're saying it's better to be completely unarmed and hope the person breaking into your home is nice enough to not hurt you than to have some sort of means to defend oneself even if the use of that means doesn't become necessary? If someone breaks in and is intent on hurting or killing whoever they find, at least having some sort of weapon will give the home owner a fighting chance.

Also, most states have what's called the "castle doctrine", which is a law that permits a person to use force, up to and including deadly force, to protect oneself and other family from someone who breaks into their home. Sure, there's always greasy lawyers who will try to sue, but as far as criminal law is concerned if a person is genuinely using self defense against a dangerous intruder they will not be criminally liable.

Keep in mind that organizations like the ACLU will fight tooth and nail for the scumbags of the planet.

Years ago my grandmother's house was broken into. When my parents and grandparents walked in on the two robbers, one of them (a woman) attacked my grandmother, tackling her to the ground and biting her arm until she literally tore the skin off of it from elbow to wrist along the forearm. My grandfather and father barely managed to pry her off my grandmother. It went to court, and the ACLU helped the two robbers sue my grandparents for assault and other BS charges... and WON.

Yes, thats right, My grandmother was found guilty of assault because a robber bite the flesh off her arm while breaking into her home. Yes, the laws are fucked up, castle laws or no, you will be up shit creek without a paddle if you try to defend yourself now at days, because more and more the idea of helping out the 'poor, unfortunate people forced by society to commit crimes that they really don't want to' has become the norm.
