Seattle trips
So I really need to expand my social circle, especially northward up in to the greater Seattle area.
I make frequent trips up to Seattle, and I would love to have options of things to do moreso than I do now. Normally I just go to a Rainfurrest staff meeting and then end up going home without much happening before or after. So if you live up there, feel free to contact me to chat it up! I'm a pretty laid back fellow.
So that aside. I found out what my actual Rainfurrest staff title is and will be listed as in the conbook, "Special Assistant to the Convention Chair". There is one other person with that title, and he is the current Chairman of Furry Fiesta, Path. I'm hoping this is a good opportunity to network if we will be working closely together at all. It will be interesting to say the least.
And THAT aside, Furlandia planning is moving along... Sluggishly still, but better than the non existent pace of before. We have a teaser ad coming out in Rainfurrest's conbook, barely got that finished and submitted in time. I still need to get a piece done for a full flyer/insert in to their conbook. I will need aboooout 2500 prints of it made to take up there.

I go to Seattle pretty often, I only have a few friends up there and none of them are furs haha. San Jose is definitely more my friend zone and and PDX-Seattle is my broadening area of trying to make friends.
Last time I was in Seattle, I went to a beach with my friend to draw and ran into what I assume was a meet for RF, was totally random, and I was too shy to say hi, so I sat and worked on art for a bit. Seems like there is a large base of people there.
My saturday afternoon is always booked for 4 or 5 hours with meetings at the Hilton, but otherwise yeah a lot of open time. I'm slowly making acquaintances as people get to know me. I just need to make solid plans to hit up some clubs with furs sometime or something, or one of their events.
I have scattered friends all over, including up there buuuut unless it's a con or party, our paths don't often cross.
As for the flyer prints, yeeeah it'll probably cost as much as our conbook budget potentially, unless I can get an inside hookup on good prices. But Rainfurrest will have probably 2200 people this year, so it's our best chance at expanding our market, and they are willing to heavily promote us, so if I can get the free ad AND have a full flyer also stuffed inside as an insert, as well as more passed around. For sure! I'm hoping they'll let me talk at closing ceremonies or something, but I need to talk with someone on that.
I only have rabbit advocate meets here, and they are not that long! Yikes. I stay at home and draw most of the time, trying to gather a fanbase if I can and eventually have a table sometime, somewhere. I just recently decided to network up here, and in general, not just furs, but with other groups.
I haven't been to clubs with furs really much at all. I used to work at a goth club and I went to more clubs like that, but we sort of lack clubs here. (dancehalls with a bar, not bars with a dancefloor). When I was lead dancer (and it had clothes kinda dancing I should clarify I wasn't a stripper, as in portland, that's what dancer seems to mean hehehe >.> ), I was always working the whole club and rarely socialized unless having a clove at the start or end of the night.
Hmm, I will ask alex if he know someone. He's at a band practice right now. Do you need color or b/w? I know that most of their flyers are b/w with a few larger poster ones in color. I don't have my resin printer anymore because it ran on a generator and was too loud/expensive to run up here otherwise I would do them, like I did for my local civic theater back home.
Totally could work with that, drawing it certainly is easier than making it. I hardly do leather and metalworking anymore.
