I've heard a lot of good things about this con... but it's so far awaaaaaaay. =/ I liked being able to drive to FCN. Oh well... I've got a hardcase suitcase for Kiba. Maaaaaaybe I'll show up. =3

Hmmm... Maybe. About the right time. And I don't mind driving though snow. I mean, how different is Michigan snow from Wisconsin Snow? =P

probably not that much different. I live right below michigian and the lake effect is not that bad, then again I do have a 4 wheel drive car. I might go myself. still a shame FCN is no more, was hoping to wear my fursuit for the first time there.

I made a journal myself about it, seriously... This is just plane out rude, just cause of that and the Senior staff want a retirement?... GET new people and find a better location >3<... *sighs* This hurts really bad...

They took the easy way out. They should have considered the fact they got over 1000 people, and simply ASK their fans for volunteers or suggestions/help to make the con easier to run. Instead they took the lazy way and said hey, lets just end it.

You do have to relies, reading that, they only had a goal to run 5 years. Although we may have GLFC, I hope the location they picked for it isn't too small. It's not a huge building like FCN, so I'm afraid getting even half their load may run into problems. I'm glad I was able to at least attend FCN 2013 as my first con. Sucks to hear a local con shut down though

if GLFC does not take off there is always Fursquared if that is a good con.

I met a loooot of people there..Saturday I ran around dressed in a lab coat and white wig. I don't suit yet hehe ^^

Actually i can't blame them having done some pre-work for a con concept. Biggest problem was that everyone wants a con, but no one wanted to help. I've heard that about other cons, heck, i remember Anthrocon begging for volunteers even with 2000 people attending. It sucks, but it doesn't surprise me, and with the sheer number of cons these days, help has got to be getting harder and harder to find.

This really sucks, Fcn was my first convention and one of the best I've ever gone to. I've met friends there I'll have for the rest of my life and have had experiences i'll remember for just as long.

Wasn't my first... but was definitely one of the best. Will be missed. =(

I'm actually from Wisconsin, so the drive was a bit far. But well worth it! I will be at MFF though. It's also a lot of fun!

Hm. That will be a bit of a choice. I don't have any vacation days left for this year to attend cons with, so we're talking 2014 here. 2014 MFF is Nov 21st to 23rd - Friday through Sunday, I believe. And since it's Thanksgiving week, I would be unable to take Friday off and the entire next week off to go back for Thanksgiving and visit my folks. Good timing, yet, bad at the same, since the 6 hour drive would be followed by an 11 hour drive. >.>
I suppose the best thing to do would be to see how the financials play out for it, and if I can get more vacation time next year. -works on financial spreadsheets to start saving more funds-

I am planning to try to make it to FurSquared. Xander and Alkali are good guys, and I want their first con to be a successful one.

It does suck about FCN, no denying, but I can understand why things are the way they are. FCN was meant to be a party con, and I don't think anyone expected it to get as large as it did. There is a lot of stress that goes into putting a con together and running it, more that I would want.

Personally, I am hoping that maybe there will be something left. An unofficial gathering, perhaps. But things are uncertain.

Well, I've heard there is also Great Lakes Furcon starting up this year. I might have to check that one out too.

I see that it is supposed to be in Grand Rapids, but that's all I know about it so far.
