I couldn't agree more. I see the want to go to a con a non necessity. If you can't afford it, save up money for the next con, not wait till last minute.

Yes, however the fact remains that it was not at all underhanded or vague what the money would have been for, and it is up to whoever donated to decide if it was worth it. Some people like supporting artists to go to coons and the like, especially those like FF here who also go to school for a higher education, and won't necessarily be able to afford a vacation on just what they make on art alone.

The long story short of it, she didn't trick you (or anyone else, for that matter) into giving her money, and you probably didn't give her any anyway, so I really don't feel you have any right to be offended.

Look. I really don't know why you feel this is a personal attack. I know Flyingfire on a personal basis. I'm not bashing your opinion I'm simply stating a donation for something that is on a not needed basis shouldn't warrant it.
Get off the high horse. Calm down and stop trying to white knight my opinion on a simple matter.
Not once did I say or mention a trickery or some sort of miscommunication.

In the end it all deals with ethics.

I had a great time, and I got to see Dark and Nash, but to be realistic, this was a work con- not much else. We all sat in the Alley and worked out various tail types off. Also, the visit was to see Dark before a back surgery, which, thankfully, got pushed back because of his back straightening out. No one knew that would happen until I was practically on the plane. (literally hours before.) I can see how this comes off. The donations idea, I knew, would look strange to people that didn't now everything, so I can see where your confusion over the matter comes from. But now you know that it was to see my friend before a surgery that was thankfully pushed back. If nothing else, I know I won't be able to do recreation for awhile as college will keep me plenty busy, so that it centered around this time was simply fortunate, and gave me a chance to make back what was spent to get here.
If you want to know more... well, I'm not on skype at the moment, but you are free to call, text, or wait until you see me in person again to talk to me about it. :)

What are you doing, honey? You ask for donations from people to attend a convention and to see your friends, which is strictly a LUXURY VACATION, let's be honest here...when you can't even pay for necessities. A convention is a want, not a need, and if it was a need, then you'd have money for it. Donations should only be reserved for emergencies, in my opinion.

What you need to do is find a part-time job. Help everyone around you, and not just yourself. Start making better life choices!

This has been read and noted. It was, however, not a luxury vacation. if you got my text, you'll know why. If you had read the previous entries, you'd also know why. that is all there is to say on the subject, aside from posting this here was very rude. Some things can go to notes, or you could have texted it to me or called. You have my number.

Woah, wait a sec, Oreo knew exactly what I knew. My reply was in comment towards a journal you had posted about wanting donations and help to go to a con, that was labeled as a Luxury. (This is the journal posted Prior that only mentioned donations about going to Ohio)
In retrospect, I think you should have been more honest on the donations, only telling people now AFTER the fact makes the excuse seem like an excuse; NOT THAT I"M SAYING IT IS. But you should probably be a bit more specific and detailed as to what the money is really going to.

I still stand by the whole "save money" instead of ask for money. The con takes place from what I understand every year, and takes place around the same time. For future cons I really really recommend saving money instead of asking for it at the last minute.

If you feel compelled to want to talk to me about it later in the future, that's totally fine. If your goals are set to try and make money with your art and expand your education with college, you are going to have to do it like everyone else in college; with jack shit for money and you can't always go to cons or see your friends. Sadly, that's how the world works.

I can tell you one thing about college, If you are taking courses at a college level, given that the average student needs to spend nearly 30-50 hours a week doing homework / study / research. Where do you have the time to take an entire Thursday - Sunday/Monday for a con. When I went through college just for my Liberal Arts Degree I had to work 30+ Hours a week, from 4pm - 10pm, and go to college from 6am to 3pm, just to earn a living (Which included paying my share of (RENT) staying at my moms house, Electric and Internet).
