August started out on a good note, my birthday was on the second and as a gift to myself I ordered a new lens that I'd been saving for. But then a week later I got word that a good friend and co-worker decided to hang himself over the weekend (5th suicide this year), which left me lost and empty until the next weekend when it finally hit me that he was gone (not going into any more detail about that). The day after we lost him a bomber went down in Montana, which the next weekend as if the emotions weren't bad enough by then and working a regular 5 day week, I had to drive to Montana to assist with the recovery, working 16+ hours a day for 4 days, making a 9 day work week. The first night there was a fucking hurricane and flooded the tents, nearly ripping them off the ground. I was given a day off when I got back, which was cut short by getting called in a 9am (which is midnight for me) and then going back into work at 11pm. The next day we started working 10s (which is still better than 12s) then I heard my father was going in for spinal surgery, which turned out fine and he's better than ever now.
In all, August was just a fucking stressful month, almost a bad as when Japan had the megaquake when I was there, but at least September is looking better.
