John Hughes' Dune!
Inspired in part by Denis Medri's awesome '80s Star Wars art; an attempt to capitalize on '80s nostalgia by remaking Dune as a heartwarming, John Hughes styled, high school epic!
... See the whole thing starts when the principal, Shaddam IV (Christopher Lloyd), feels threatened by the kindly wise physics teacher, Leto (Robin Williams), who's gaining support among the faculty. He enlists the help of the Guidance Counselor, Helen Mohiam and the immense Coach Vlad Harkonen. But they really aren't getting anywhere until Piter de Vries, the nerdy guy who runs the computer lab (Rick Moranis) is inspired by a guest appearance by Cheech Marin as the "Guild Navigator," emerging from the cloud of "spice gas" in his VW microbus. They come up with the idea of framing Leto for passing drugs to Paul, the school's up and coming football star, who regards the physics teacher as pretty much a father. Leto's fired and Paul is sent off to a different school, clearing the way for the Coach's favorite, Feyd-Rautha, to take over the team.
Things look bleak, but during an intense night of underage drinking, Paul successfully "conquers the worm" and downs an epic amount of tequila with no ill effect. He wins over the misfits from his new school, and using the Weirdass Way, forges them into an effective football team. During the big game, Feyd-Rautha's discovered trying to win by doping Paul up. The Fremen win the game against the Sardaukar, Shaddam retires, Feyd-Rautha's expelled, and Paul makes his triumphant return!
Features a soundtrack by Toto!
