It looked like a lot of fun :) And it can be, if one knows what he is doing. I wasn't quite thinking everything through back then, and since I'm a socially awkward person and a terrible actor, I make for a rather poor fursuiter.
I forget who said it, but someone once said that there's two types of fursuiters. 1: Performers. These are the people you remember. People like Kironeem, Yippee, or JD puppy, who carefully develop and act out a genuine character. They perform, they entertain, and they're good at it. Weeks after the con, those are the guys you remember. And 2: Mascoters. These are the people who don't really have a well defined character, or if they do, they don't perform it well if they perform at all. They may be incredibly cute or scary, the fursuit may be top-notch quality, but there's little to no substance behind it. They mostly stand around and look cute. Other than being good for a photograph, you do tend to forget them quickly because there's nothing to remember. The latter is the category I fall into. The only recognition I get is really from doing the photography. People recognize my suit because I do photography, they don't recognize me because I do anything special.
I think I have. Although it wasn't making noise at right that second, I did see one type of bug several times over the course of a summer where those cicadas were supposedly up and active. Haven't seen them before or since.
