PayPal payments are no longer possible!
Please note that the following only applies to NEW registrations. This does not affect people who have already paid using PayPal. If you have, your do not need to take any actions.
We are very sorry to announce that PayPal payments will no longer be accepted for new registrations. The NordicFuzzCon PayPal account has been audited by PayPal. As a result of this audit, they will keep a large part of all your payments locked away until after NordicFuzzCon. They did this for their own safety, in case attendees issue refund requests.
We do, of course, need the money prior to the convention. The hotel, for instance, would quite like to be paid. For this reason, we hope people will understand that we can only accept payments using direct bank transfer for any new registrations.
We understand that this can be a bit more of a hassle for our guests from outside Sweden, but for most, it should not be too complicated. Most online banks offer an international payment option, or your bank office will be able to assist you in making the transfer. All the information you need to make the international bank transfer will be given on the invoice you will receive from us.
If you have already registered, and have selected to use the PayPal option, you will have received an invoice with the PayPal payment information. You should also by now have received, or will soon receive, an email explaining the situation, asking you to consider changing to direct bank transfer. If you have not received this, and want to help us by using bank transfer, please email us at registration@nordicfuzzcon.org.
Thank you!

What you need to tell PP is that theyre destroing buisnss both for you and for themselfes with theyre actions.
Sometimes when conventions or organizations are selling 'tickets' for an event which is more than 45 days away, they may make this decision to put funds in 'reserve' until after the event has taken place. Some potential reasons for this are international incoming payments, lack of established sales history on the specific paypal account, lack of corporate credit history, lack of credit cards as a funding source on the account or the account itself may have experienced some disputes or credit card chargebacks. Charge backs are a way to get money back for those who purchase memberships but dont use them and cost paypal, and the account holder money. Sometimes when PayPal feels there may be risk, whether there really is risk or not, they may put these kinds of restrictions on accounts.
Its in no way saying that NordicFuzzCon is bad or risky or negative... its fairly standard practice. This is why you see a lot of furry conventions getting away from using PayPal as there are a plethora of other options for processing credit cards out there. Thats the great thing in all of this... one business puts a restriction on, there are plenty of other payment processors ready to fill the need.
As for NFC, I dont know if they use the same account, but since its the second year of theyre operation and has the same organisation team I dont see any or limited risk, at least not from PPs side. I could understand this concerns from a first time operation, but coming with theese demands on a a repeating convent sounds like biting themselves in theyre foots, and since its more and in this case obviously better way to do the payment I cant really see any reasons for them to behave like this, more than destroying for theyre clients.
But what happens with us that have already payed with paypal before we got this information?
