It doesn't matter how much I know you, I'm not giving discounts on my honey, or worse, free honey, just because I know you. I need the money to invest in new equipment next year. By asking for a discount or free honey, you're asking me to forego revenue I need to build my microbusiness. Processing, bottling, and labelling honey also costs me money. So you are asking me to forego profit at best, and hand you something that cost not only money, but took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to produce.

Let me put it another way: With the honey I already have processed and bottled alone, the revenue will pay for a whole new hive.

You probably wouldn't ask a commission artist for free art, so don't ask me for free material goods that I worked hard to produce, either.
