Normal life of a Anthro
Hopefully most of you who see this are a fan or at least interested rather than griefer. If you are the latter then skip on down to the bottom.
I don’t know how many of you would like real flesh and blood anthro’s to be walking around like me, but I know many out there have thought of what they would do on a normal day and or what modifications would be needed for everyday life. Now let’s leave out how they came to be for another time and look at what the first few living anthro’s would do/need. I will list a few things and circumstances, all of them I have thought of a way to make it work but I want to see scientific reasoning other then my own as to what would happen. Also as a side note, I am only going after Warm Blooded, scale and furred anthro’s since most likely it would be a lizard due to regeneration experiments and stay warm blooded because humans are. And the furry ones like a Canine or a Feline or a Equine. Due to research in muscle and reflexes and the like. No Mythicals or Genetical experiments like Chakats just yet.
1. Showers/Baths! Ok what would they use to clean themselves? Shampoo? Soap? What kind of brushes would be needed? How long would it take to clean themselves let alone dry off. And along these lines how much would they shed, both scale and furred, and would they clog up the drain or what? What about the smell of wet fur? Q-tips? Deodorant? And what about Grooming? And other Hygiene?
2. Going to the restroom… (no I’m not a fan of water sports or scat, just curious what would happen) Tails would get in the way and can only bend so far. If digigrade how would they sit down? Or whatever it is they would use. Sheaths or human how would they go?
3. Clothes. If plantigrade there will not be many changes other then places for tails and feet. But there is the fact that clothes on animals is a irritant and causes skin irritation and lose of fur. So what would they wear and or how? If digigrade then how will they wear pants? And what kind of shoes? If any…
4. Temperature/Climate. Humans sweat or put on layers, we are big and generate a lot of heat. In other words Humans are able to manage their internal temperature very well. Animals are usually smaller and or do things at night. They also have a slightly harder time depending on the species on managing temperature. SO would a anthro sweat like a human or pant like animals? What modifications would be needed to live in the south (taking USA perspective) like Florida or Texas. Otherwise would they be mostly in the north and or in cold areas? What about Wintercoats?
5. Medical. Not worrying about political or religious reasons. If a anthro was hurt for the first few, how will we help them? Given time a specialist or generalist method will come but until then who will they see? A doctor or a vet? Transfusions are usually needed for most injuries, so what would be used? Human blood or animal. If you say mixed, you need to keep in mind how they would even have that if anthro’s are new. Broken limbs, how will we fix this? A tail can be difficult to fix since it is the spine. A leg, if plantigrade then just like a humans but if digigrade then we have some problems since even most vets have problems solving that. What about the muzzle? What if its broken?
6. Diseases. Along with Medical is Diseases but Medical is big as it is. What Diseases would cross over? Since it’s a combination of Humans and Animals then it would be very unique and immune to both BUT it could also be the opposite and get both. This subject covers lot so ill leave this to discussion.
7. Instincts. This is many and varied, what about relationships? Polygamy or Monogamy? What about the other urges like hunting or sleeping habits or eating habits?
There might be more added but for now let’s go with this. You can discuss it here and or go to the forums created for this subject and its corresponding subjects that will come later. Site location is “ http://gamersasylum.org/forums/view.....18&t=47”. If you’re a griefer then go ahead and post whatever as long as you follow the rules of the site. If it’s really bad ill delete it.
These questions have been bouncing in my head for a long long time. Again I know MY answers for this, I want yours. And this story "http://tsa.transform.to/furry/nogre.....love.html" which I read so long ago, has been the story keeping me interested in such things.
Also I should point out this is a one of four journals I would like to write. Might even extend this one with more questions.

FA+

1. Showers, since soaking in a tub would just get a bunch of fairs(fur) everywhere and floating around, plus baths are unhygienic compared to showers. That, and soaking in water can cause canines wet-fur-stink. Neither Shampoo nor Soap actually, rather, the body soap gel that is for body and hair. Depending on how flexible one's arms are, no brushes are actually needed to wash, but for someone with stiff limbs and can't reach their back, a rough sponge on a stick. Time to wash would depend on the individual actually, some people just seem to like long showers. Drying time, again, is another matter on how they tried to dry off. If they are stupid, they would shake and thus get the rest of the room wet. The best choice, I think, would be a hot air dryer and/or towel. Shedding would depend on age and time of the year, due to season coats, so I can't really answer that part. If they ARE shedding, then depending on how strong the drain is, it would clog it up since there are the wide hole type shower drains and sieve type drains. The latter are garbage. Q-tips, well, I don't see why not really. Clean the ears. Deodorant would probably be spray-on type or liquid after-save/cologne since roll on would do very well on a lot of fur. Scalies are a whole other matter.
2. Going to the restroom. Well, I would assume one would maybe lean forward a bit so the tail would be out of the way maybe, best I can assume here for that. If one is digigrade, it would matter really. Just move one's legs off to the side and wider apart. For the last one, I don't really want to go there honestly.
3. Clothing. Well, I don't know if it would cause irritation really, as it would depend on the material. Obviously baggy clothes though is my guess. A digigrade would need some kind of custom pants or just wear shorts or even, if they felt like it, a kilt or robe. Shoes are a little more iffy because of the pads on their feet, however that wont help that much from broken shards of glass, so I think, if digigrade, custom made shoes again or women's heels. I know I know, but think about it.
4. Temperature and climate is an interesting one, but I firmly think they would pant in the heat since they have all that fur for the cold. Climate could be an issue, depending on species actually. Some, even with fur, can handle the heat. Some are more cold and some have a balanced temperature adaptability.
5. This one would be a bit more difficult to answer. On medical, I would think a doctor and a vet at the same time, sharing info and comparing notes. Besides that on all the other stuff, if they are new, they're kinda screwed, to a point and should give blood often and hope they have a decent medical plan.
6. Disease is another tough one and honestly, I have absolutely no idea. It would be impossible to know at first what they can catch and/or carry over.
7. Instincts is an interesting one really. It depends on the individual to a degree and also level of "sentience." I do hate that word. Polygamy and monogamy are ones I can not answer, because humans do both, as do different species of animals. As for hunting and sleeping, it would be more human-like because they are not going to be wild animals that require hunting to survive and need to be careful how and wear they sleep for risk of being attacked by some dangerous creature. This is assuming they have the capability to talk, learn human things, and get jobs, and buy things.
As for the smell, considering how sensitive noses can be I don't think they'd go after perfumes. Especially those who use their sense of smell more than their sight
2) Probably specially shaped toilets where all 4 sides and not just 3 are cleared (4th one for the tail). Again the shape and size would have to be species tailored
3) Looser material I guess, not particularly aggressive fabric or special padding, depending of the usage and purpose. Shoes are not something I'd be able to put in words ^ ^;;
4) That depends a lot of the species in question, but most of the time the body regulates that itself by producing thicker or thinner coats of hair. Of course that depends a lot of the region they live in as well, but from what I've heard the real advantage of us being able to sweat is our ability to stand the hotter times of the day, when most animals have to rest to prevent overheating. But if they were able to do that then they'd have to face smelly, sticky fur all the time > >
5) Don't know enough about medicine to touch this topic, but I'm sure first aid would be pretty much the same
6) Again can't talk much about this
7) They would be there at some level, but being intelligent means being able to control ones instincts and urges... to a degree (I know a lot of people who still fail to do that). Of course another thing about being intelligent would mean having to learn stuff instead of inheriting it through genes
