Hitting the polls later today (stupid work only letting me have time off for polling late in the day). But going purely on platform, I'd be writing in McKinney (Green Party) myself. Love the environmental, mass transit, fiscal responsibility strains. Not a fan of her stance on race relations and equality, but you can't win them all. But I may not be given that choice. So we'll see what my options are when I get to my little booth.
On the main candidates. They'll both push economic reform, they have to, it's the big issue. Energy and environment will also have to be pushed, just on terms of increasing public (global warming) and foreign pressure (Russia/Venezuela, OPEC). I think Iraq is a mess. I don't think any withdraw plan or course staying is going to stop it from being the huge mess it already is. And I don't think there is any good solution for what we've gotten ourselves into.
I'm just sick of hearing about Marxism, the Joes, and especially half-truths about tax plans that won't pass in congress within a specter of what either opponent is promising.
I want to see the old restrictions on financial institutions put back into place, some old tax breaks reintroduced, some of the current incentives repealed, and selfishly a State and Local increase to solar incentives (which no candidate can really supply me). And possibly, as terrible as it is, a public trail of leaders of the financial institutions. Why? People always feel better after they see someone punished. It's not going to get any of the money back, but I guarantee it will rally a majority of the market.
And that's just me just blowing billows of hot air, because it makes me feel better.
I have gotten so little done lately, thanks to some very very long hours at work. But you'll be seeing more hopefully by a bit later this week.
