VALVE APPLIES FOR HALF-LIFE 3 TRADEMARK

Valve has apparently filed an application for trade marking the word "Half-Life 3" and it is anyone's guess as to what that could mean for the long-awaited not-yet-announced sequel to one of the most cherished game series of our generation. It could be just protecting themselves. It could be the beginning of some real news. Who knows. But one thing is for sure: it is a real trade mark application on a real website where Valve has applied for trade marks before.

Surely before they can announce Half-life 3 they still need to announce Half-life 2: Episode 3, or has that been officially cancelled now?
So all I can think of is that Valve are waiting to make HL3 on the Source 2 engine.
"Half-Life trademark filing date: Nov 27, 1997 ... Release date: Nov 19, 1998
Half-Life 2 trademark (filed as Half-Life) filing date: Feb 25 2005 ... Release date: Nov 14, 2004
Half-Life 3 trademark filing date: Sep 29 2013 ... Release date: uh, maybe a year from now, or three months ago, this tells me nothing"
