I had the same thing happen to me a while back. Just let it dry out, it's a process that takes about 4 days. You can speed it up by immersing it in rice.

This is actually the second time this has happened and my first keyboard never worked again even after drying.

Better off just putting it in the sun on a nice warm day, rice works if it is small enough to get near the water, otherwise it only absorbs water vapor and that isn't the problem.

If the water gets a bit too far in, it can short the laptop. Is this the case or are you just down a keyboard?

if that's happened to your keyboard more than once, you have a shit keyboard that doesn't deserve to be used. Fork over the 15-25 bucks for a USB one and revel in the fact that your fingers won't be so cramped together. I chose the logitech K330 because it came with a mouse which was also unifying, and then came to realize i hated that mouse it came with, so i stuck with the old one, and since it's a unifying receiver, i just synced the keyboard up to the old mouse's thing. I also chose it for all the fun macro buttons it had. Which i never really use... haha.

It's really nice having finger space on this keyboard to type, instead of being all bunched up. USB Keyboards are a good long-term investment.

I had the same problem, haha. Well, not the method of breaking. The k key decided to completely die, no electrical contact or anything.

Went to officemax...nowait officedepot...nowait staples... I DONT KNOW (coincidentally backtoschoolsale so everything was a bit cheaper) and picked up a nice wireless keyboard/mouse combo. It was like 17.95 or something and i use that keyboard now, rather than getting this laptop's builtin one repaired. even if the k key still randomly ghosts while i'm typing and i have to thump the keyboard to get it to stop.

Just use a usb keyboard till your dries out

Easy to replace the keyboard and eBay great place to look for them cheap to. Hope the drying work tho.

First rule of spilling shit on your keyboard is cut the power immediately. Look around and see about replacing the keyboard itself rather than the whole laptop.

Ive had to do this before. The replacement keyboard wont cost too much but i hope to save the one i got

you can try one of those cheap-o ones that plug into your usb port

If the keyboard replacement cost turns out to be a bit much, you can get yourself a USB keyboard (Almost all keyboards these days should be USB)

USB keyboards are pretty cheap. I ordered one online that was only 10 dollars. Some of the wireless ones were just over 30.

It helped because my laptop keyboard went out (first a few keys, then the whole thing) and I got sick of using the on-screen keyboard. Gave me a functional laptop, more or less, until I could afford a new one.

Now if the laptop itself is messed up, well...sorry to hear that.
