stuffs to maybe work on:
-at 1:08 when you hit each beat with a movement but stopped on the lyrics, maybe flipping the idea might've been more effective; moving on the lyrics and hitting the beat with a stop
-cleaner stops and hits; it's hard to do in-suit but it can make a big difference. (having fur on really takes the cleanliness out of a lot of dimestops and pops and stuff)
-maybe a little more energy, but I think that relies on the song more than your dancing
-less use of your head for the lyrical parts, unless you really wanna go ham on the talkjaw
pro's:
-extensive use of the floor space, there was tons of movement
-good musicality and capturing the emotion of the song
-eye-catching style of dance
-involving the audience and judges
-lots of confidence, looking at the audience and judges rather than looking down at your moves
I noticed that your center of gravity is pretty much chest level out. Try doing more moves above your head! Stretch those arms up and out, completely utilize the space around your body! Get comfortable with getting lower, play with doing moves while crouching or jumping, just be completely greedy and use as much space as you can! No matter what style or what genre of music, expressing out and away from your body looks very pleasing to the eye.
You also do a LOT of pointing. Every dancer does a ton of pointing at some time, but maybe try doing something different with your hands! learn basic tutting, or see what shapes you can make with you own two arms and the parts of your fursuit. Pointing is sort of an escape, go-to move, so try to stray away from pointing as much as possible! Play it up to the lyrics as much as you want, but don't be straightforward about it. Find clever ways to illustrate the song without playing charades, if that makes sense. <3
You seem to stay a single speed through the majority of the dance, so try playing with tempos. dance in time with the lyrics at one part, then another dance in time with the back beat. Timing is a really cool thing you can experiment with and chop up, so don't be afraid to try different speeds and paces for yourself.
Another tip that someone told me once is try folding your arms behind your back and only dancing with your feet. A lot of times dancers are only focusing on their arms, when their feet should be moving as well or could be doing even more, so this exercise makes you really aware of the way your feet can move to music. And above all else, keep watching dance videos, keep experimenting, don't be afraid to throw your body around and try new ideas! I really look forward to seeing more and more dances from you, and I can't wait to see the many ways you'll improve and how you'll build your style of dancing! <3 I hope my advice helps somehow!
ill try the feet thing, that sounds like a good tool!
thank you so much rei, and i hope to see you at fc to try and show off how much i can improve!
