My last handheld was a GBA as well, before I got a 3DS.
Might explain why I'm behind on Pokemon. :P

I'm only behind in the games,I still watch the anime, so I know a majority of the newer pokemon. Though a few do slip through the cracks, so when looking at a comprehensive list of all the pokemon, I don't recognize about 20% of them I'd say.
