CPFC Year one a success ^_^
First we would like to thank everyone who helped make our first year a huge success. Without the help from those who gave a hand with setup and tear down it would have taken ten times as long. And of course without all those who attended what would be the point of even hosting the event. So we give praise to all who participated and we would love for you all to come back again next year.
I think that we were very surprised how smoothly everything went. And the hotel staff was extremely happy how clean we kept the place. They enjoyed having us and want us to come back again next year, and that is definitely the impression we wanted to leave with them.
Our numbers were not that great, but I think the impression we left with everyone was. We had a goal to reach of 100 attendees, and we were just shy of that standing at 97. We pulled in $706 for our charity tanginyka wildlife, a very nice number for a first year con, which we can’t thank you all enough for.
We are trying our best to pin down a date as close to the original one for next year, but it’s possible that we might have to move it into November. It’s not a definite, but we will keep you all updated as we get the details worked out.
For those who did attend we would like to know what you did/didn’t enjoy, what you would like to change about the con, or what you would like to stay the same. Our goal was to make this convention for all of you, and thus your opinion is what matters the most. So please don’t be afraid to speak up if it’s something that could improve this convention for future years. If you want to remain anonymous please send us a private message via note here on FA.
For anyone who is interested in helping out or would like to take on a task of being a staff member please contact us with your information and a little bit about what your area of interest is. We will contact you and talk it over.
Aaaaaaaaaand I guess that’s about it…Thank you again everyone and we look forward to seeing you next year, (or possibly sooner at the lake afton campout coming this next May.)

I hope you still had a good time.
If you need any help with the website I will be more than happy to assist.
sadly. ;_;
As for suggestions, you need an advertising person. A person that can advertise your con at other cons, and especially on the *many* social media sites (twitter, Facebook, ect.) The biggest problem I saw was that too many people weren't aware of the con's existence.
The website needed updates more frequently with schedule and dealers ect.
Other than that. Keep doing what you're doing :) I look forward to next year!
We are trying to get someone to take over the social media sites and the main web-site so that we can focus on these things more directly.
Thank you for the feedback and we look forward to seeing you next time. I hope you are feeling better from the con crud.
Well if y'all need help with anything, give hollar :) I had a good time, I don't mind lending a hand one way or another ^^
Badges for dealers: this wasn't an issue this year with such a small con and only a few dealers, but as your con grows you should have some special designation for dealers and their assistants. Either different badges or a ribbon which can be attached to the badge.
Pocket schedules and My Conbook: in addition to the conbook info I suggest printing some pocket versions of the schedule. These are very popular at other cons. It's something which can be easily kept in a pocket without being too bulky. Also, contacts the folks who update the My Conbook app. They also offer a mobile friendly website schedule which works with most smartphones. This is basically an electronic version of the schedule. The app can download and cache to the phone so that the user has access even if the lose data coverage.
Panels: the con only had 8 panels and one panel room. Most cons have more than this and divided into tracks like art, writing, suiting, etc. This is something I'd recommend reaching out to the local communities to find people who would be interested in running a panel.
Reach out: Kyo, Guardian and I drove up from Texas. Our friend Rahata came in from Arkansas. Basically your community isn't just Kansas furs so also consider joining mailing lists and forums for the states within 8 hours or so of Wichita. Many furs will be happy to road trip to get to a con. In Texas we have the lonestarfurs.org forum and the Texas Area Furry Friends mailing list.
I would really like to see this con take off and grow since it's a con I can easily drive to and I had a fun time there.
I don't want to sound like I'm being overly critical btw. I had a great weekend, but I figured I could share some advice with you. Let me know if I can be of any help to you. :)
Anyways, the con itself was nice for a first convention. Obviously, going from RainFurrest's 2200+ to CPFC's 97 is going to be a huge shift for me--but that is nobody's fault. In fact, even though I only knew 1 furr there (and I wasn't aware he was going to be there), everyone was really nice. Merk was really nice about letting me know about events 'n stuff, the registration team was nice about processing me (even with the slight delay of being helped). The dance music was great. So the dance floor didn't always have dancers. Whatever! I think it's fun to have a dance floor all to myself and not worry about other furries/fursuiters trying to cramp on me whilst I'm getting my groove on!
Speaking of "fursuits," I think the only beef I had was being all suited up for the Parade...only to be told the start was delayed 1 hour. Logistics change, I get it.
The hotel...was lovely! I think the Drury was the first hotel I'd been at, in or out of conventions, to provide 2 meals instead of just 1. And the staff was nice. I was a little confused about the famous "mural" that was being mentioned during the weekend...I guess it was the one behind all those curtains in the main theater? I like historical things.
So yes, I enjoyed myself. What CPFC had was good; my only request is for MOARRRR!!!!1!
