computer problems fixed (I think)...

Hey all,
I finally fixed most of my computer problems, and without having to spend loads of money, wooo. After narrowing the problem down to the sound card drivers, I reinstalled them and Data Execution Prevention magically went away. The sound was still not coming out of one of the speakers and couldn't figure it out why until I checked a forum and they said it had something to do with jumpers 9/10 on pinout JAUD1 on the motherboard regarding front panel audio. I remembered recently using front panel audio, so I stuck some headphones in there and wiggled it around a bit, and LO AND BEHOLD THE SOUND STARTED WORKING AGAIN. What a shitty case with a shitty front audio jack, it wasn't detecting right :V
Also FWIW, the $8 ethernet card I bought to replace my IC one was completely unnecessary, and seems to have also magically fixed itself. The external device never worked in this machine for some reason. Wish I kept the reciept. Oh well. I'll probably unload it on someone should they want it (you gotta pay shipping though!)
As for my ear................ It's somewhat better after a couple of hot showers, but it's still not hearing as well as my right ear. If it doesn't go back to normal tomorrow, I'll probably try the peroxide and alcohol chaser thing. Sorry dudes, I'd love to go to the ENT doctor, but I don't have health insurance and can't afford it. Go Obama go, where's my Medicaid? >:V

It's kind of a shot in the dark, but some people with hearing problems have narrow ear canals, myself included. In some cases hearing degradation is genetic, but in many cases its simply caused by a buildup of excess wax in your middle ear. There's a non-prescription solution you can get at Walgreens, cabramide peroxide drops for your ear with a bulb to flush with water (this might be the same as the "peroxide and alcohol chaser" you mention). Good luck :D
fill it with warm water, then when you're in the shower, squirt the water into your ear. you can use a surprising amount of pressure, but obviously don't squeeze it in too hard! it might take a few tries and you'll likely feel rather dizzy (lol vestibular system), but chances are it'll dislodge the chunks of wax.
As for the ears, if it's a wax buildup, ear candles work. The idea seems foolish, but the principle is sound, and they've worked for many people that I've talked to: a hollow candle pressed against the ear, with the other end lit, creating a vacuum in the inner column that pulls the wax out. Drops or any other fluid may work, but they also might lodge the wax in deeper.
