I am directly affected by the shutdown. I will not be paid my education benefits until the shutdown ends. I am very pissed off at the GOP and the tea baggers. I am pretty close to defaulting on my bills.
If any of you voted for a tea party douche bag, fuck you!
It's an embarrassment that adults which are supposed to run the country are behaving like children, throwing temper tantrums.
It is disgraceful that they are putting people's jobs, economic well-being and even health in jeopardy simply because THEY aren't getting what THEY want.
It took a great deal of money, fuel, time and other resources to get 2 Americans to the ISS. Right now they're stuck up there with nothing much to do because most of NASA's operations are on hold. More ways in which this affects science/health here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/.....n_4058464.html
The Amazing Atheist did a video on this and, while I thought it was a bit biased, I have to say he makes some good points. A government shutdown is precisely what it sounds like: almost any function that the government carries out is closed, or slowed down to a crawl. There's a reason governments don't just close shop and let the citizens do everything themselves: it's because they are NEEDED.
I wonder how many people have to drop out of various degrees and other courses because they can't get the government benefits they need, and if a few years from now there will be fewer people who've just graduated and are ready to compete for jobs. Or how many people will contract disease because the FDA was unable to detect a breakout in time to inform the population. This could lead to a lot more money being spent on medical bills, so less money spent in other areas of the market...
And these are just a few of the consequences that I could come up with. I'm sure that someone who understands how the economy works better than me could think of many other chain reactions. Did they even think about the actual consequences of the shutdown, or did they just think "If you don't give me the things that I'm after I'm going to screeEEEEEEEEAM!"?
I don't they have much of a plan. The look on Ted Cruz's face makes it seem that he isn't really aware of much. What's more is when the government shut down they were the ones complaining about the government being shut down. I think it is sad that these people were even able to get into office.
my question is thus: why when it's the democrats doing it, it's the noble and proper thing to do... but when the republicans do it, they are just evil childish fucktawts throwing a tantrum?
to say the least, I disagree with you on the shutdown, but I am sorry to hear about your bills.
My bills will almost DOUBLE because of the ACA, but I don;t hear people complaining to Obama about that... Oh, wait, the Tea Parties and the Republicans Are.
49 members of the house shut down the government over something that had nothing to do with the budget. Everything was already set and ready to go, but then dipshit Cruz passed the idea to other dipshit tea baggers that shutting down the government would be a good way to get what they couldn't get through the legislative process, election, or court challenge. What's more, when the government shut down and all the things that the president said would happen happened the dipshit tea party got upset at him for what they started and made happen. They have this "I get my way or no one gets their way," attitude that causes the government to come to a standstill. Who is affected by all of this, hundreds of thousands if not millions of people which includes me. If this doesn't get resolved and the debt ceiling isn't raised then we are all fucked, as in the entire global economy comes to a screeching halt. All because the dipshit tea party and the weak GOP leadership that is allowing this to happen doesn't want the nation to have access to affordable health care.
Please tell me when the democrats were responsible for a shutdown and were seen as noble and proper.
What bills of yours will double? What makes you think they will double? From what the vast majority of people are saying, their premiums have gone down.
Budget? What Budget? the democrats who have had control of the senate and the house until the last election haven't even Attempted to offer a budget for consideration!
O-Bummer and his democrap supporters have not submitted a budget since he was sworn in to office.
5 years without a budget
if Bush had gone as week without it the dems and the lap-dog drive-by media would have blown a fucking gasket.
forget left and right for One second: what is good for the goose is good for the gander. I am sick and fucking tired of the hypocrisy in washington and the press.
It's not just a matter of who started the shutdown, democrats or republicans, but also if any of it was at all reasonable. This wasn't just GOP members trying to make a statement- they legitimately pushed this country over the edge (again) for their half-baked ideology. The TEA party failed 42 times through the democratic process to overturn a law they didn't like. They failed to get their candidate elected who pledged to end the law. The supreme court ruled that their claim of the law being unconstitutional was false. Having been stopped at every turn they exploited their comtrol over finances to try stopping the law- by stopping everything else they could until their demands were met. None of this was realistic, reasonable, or fair to the American people. The ends didn't justify the means even- the GOP had none of their demands met! This whole thing was an epic failure of the republican party. As TEApublicans who scare off most of the country start to eat more rational moderate republicans for strength, you very well may be seeing the collapse of the GOP as a national political power.
If the AHA is really going to double your bills then you either have very few expenses, have your facts wrong, or are fucking something up pretty badly. lol
was only phone and on a loading dock at the time. lemme explain what I meant better
My Medical Bills will double or More under the mislabeled "affordable" care act.
my deductible will go from $250 a year to over $4,000
instead of $111.26 per month (I had to stop and go add that up from my payroll) my new "affordable" cost per month under the exchanges, and ONLY if I am Allowed to get the cheapest one on the list, will be $444.78 a month (I also just went and looked that up).
I'm single, I'm almost 40, I have no kids to pay for, or family to cover.
HOW is this helping anything?
how is this covering the uninsured?
if you do not have insurance, you get FINED. and if you do, you get FUCKED.
Some states are seeing a rise in costs because not being able to turn down people with pre-existing conditions is new to them. In NY for example we're seeing costs drop- as is the case with most progressive states. Personally I only pay about 70/m, but thats part of my kickass union benifit B3
The bottom line is that if nothing else your health insurance is safer as the ACA mandates better criteria for the extent of coverage and has new oversight to prevent ins co.s from getting out of paying for care. If you're really that bad off that you can't afford the care then chances are you qualify for either gov't assistance or medicaid... That is of course if you live in one of the hellhole redneck states which has refused to comply with the medicaid reform.
I'm in Wisconsin, a state soo blue that Madison, Milwaukee, and Green Bay are still screaming over not getting Scott Walker recalled a couple years back.
That doesn't make Wisconsin especially blue. Further more you are indeed in one of the states which has refused to comply with the ACA's medicaid expansion. My point is proven *headpats*
and, in a completely honest self correction, I did a little more digging and it looks like I'm ONLY going to be facing an 80% increase in my health coverage. so Not Quite Double, but close enough that if you squint you can't tell 80% increase from a 100% increase.
but fucking Still! affordable My Fat Hairy Truck Driving ASS.
I'm non-insulin dependent diabetic and can "fix" that with diet and exercise (yeah right) so my "preexisting condition" isn't a big thing.
I just have to give a fuck to change it...
I can't even get a pretty girl to say hi to me when she's on the other side of the counter, let alone agree to meet me for coffee >.< so I'm not able to give a fuck at all about much f anything right now
