The air stenched of brimstone, the ashes still floating in the air from all the dead demons. Aapur limped from the dining hall to the entrance hall, several deep cuts bleeding. He had a small rock jammed in one of his eyes, and his left arm was broken several places, along with other broken bones.
The rest of the clan had been out, so he had alone been watching the Techwing Mansion when the demons attacked. It was one of the more brutal attacks, but he had fended it off all alone.
He sank to his knees in the middle of the hall, breathing heavily. He was so tired. So sleepy… He laid down, finding comfort on the floor.
He heard voiced from the outside. Shouting. It was the others. They were safe. He smiled. He heard the door slam open and the others run over. What they were shouting was muffled. It didn’t matter. They were safe, and he was tired. He just needed some sleep. To rest. He closed his eye, drifting away one final time…
