not.... really. Logic is similar, but php uses $'s in front of variables, lots of echo statements, not using echo in java yet... comparison operators are slightly different... IDK they're similar enough to confuse what I'm doing heh, but different enough that it matters to remember what I'm doing. Speaking of which, back to php!

yeah well for me I prefer hardware, I do PC repair but when it comes to C++ and other coding languages Forget it LOL I will stick to my hardware replacing SMD's and other components might be a PITA but still less of a brain exploder :P

Well, yes, I'm basically certified to be a system administrator/network admin, I have hardware and network certs as well as a diploma in... essentially IT support. I've had several interviews but the market is thin right now with RIM laying off people all the time.... they're getting all the IT jobs! there are plenty of coding jobs available, though, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to add some more to my repertoire. PHP adds to my knowledge of SQL and html/css, and Java is an OOL, so it means I can probably code in most languages given the correct syntax for libraries and things. They're all mostly similar... I'm just hoping it'll make me more qualified.

speaking of exams I have mine on october 31 - November 1 but on November 1 i have a big party after that

Well I dont have my CERTS but I am quite skilled at PC repair be it all hardware... Just yesterday I had to replace capacitors on my motherboard cause they started to swell and cause errors in CPU processing

that's a little bit different, that's computer engineering :P I'll buy a new motherboard if I find that mine has broken. What I'll usually do is troubleshooting/maintenance kind of thing. System and network setup, OS issues, connectivity, etc.

You sound like a computer engineer, they build components :) circuitry and design! :)

I do my own networking as well, got the crimping tools routers, switches Etc... I just dont mess with programming...
