DO THESE ANIMATIONS LOOK FAMILIAR

okay so
first an explanation

these gifs have been going around, animated by an individual on Tumblr. they have a shit ton of notes and as soon as i saw the first animation gif i immediately felt it was off.

i dont know if its been lifted from something? the style and everything seems to be directly picked up (possibly rotoscoping or something) from a disney film, i am thinking Spirit, Brother Bear, even Bambi. im not sure. i showed it to a few other people and they immediately thought the same thing without me even saying a word, so im not sure if the style is just really familiar or if its a trace.

these next two we think might be pulled from Rescuers Down Under or some other similar movie, they definitely look like Marahute to me? just the feather style and everything

the style of the first one especially seems really odd, like the bird changes styles halfway through the animation.

here are some more we cant exactly place, though we suspect the first might be something off the character JoAnna in Rescuers, and the second might be Pongo from 101 Dalmations, Chief from Fox and the Hound, or some other dog character.

I AM NOT GOING TO BE GIVING OUT THE NAME OF THE ARTIST because if im wrong and i cant find the timestamps from movies for these im not going to say anything. i just really feel like these might be inspired to the point of a partial trace etc and they havent been crediting anything so if they ARE i just want to make sure proper credit is given, since thats only fair.

okay yeah. im checking some movies now but if you know exactly where they are from somehow let me know.

like its a weird thing, i FEEL like i have seen all of these animations before, which isnt usually a thing i experience when casually browsing through tumblr.

First one I'm pretty definitely sure is from Spirit.

we cant find it directly but if you want to try to find it in the film go for it, we are all going nuts over here trying to figure out where its pulled from :/

The ponyta one seems to be reminiscent of Spirit, in the part where he's running through the gorge from the soldiers, but the others I'm uncertain.

If that artist is copying intentionally, then they're doing an astonishing job of copying.

...but it still doesn't excuse them neither. =P

its not that hard to trace animation! if you get a high quality of the movie and break it down frame by frame (which a lot of players will do for you nowadays,) you can pretty much pull anything.

im not saying they ARE tracing, i really hope they arent! but at the same time multitudes of people (not just myself) have been really thrown for a loop because all of their animations seem super familiar to them. im simply asking here to try to solve the mystery as to whether we are all dumbies or if these are traced, and if they ARE traced, i just want to request that the artist provide that in the information on the pieces, as a fair nod to the original work.

All of these seem very familiar to me as well. With this many people saying the same thing, in my opinion, it can be one of two things:

1) This person is the original animator of these and they are from films that they helped work on (very unlikely, but still possible)

2) This person is copying animations from films (with the last two, tracing) and uploading them without crediting the true creator.

Either way, I am certain that they are from films that I (and many others) have watched at least once.

4th looks like jurassic park 5th looks like a lady and the scamp or a different movie with dogs in it like 101 dalmations

I don't feel like they were traced directly off of others animations, I think they may of had certain inspirations here and there but I also feel that it might have that feeling cause it could be rotoscoped from stock footage. Thus why it feels familiar to several of these other films cause they too were also rotoscoped. But that's my theory as to why it has such a familiar 'feeling' to it all.

Yeah I can't tell for sure, it's just frustrating when you feel something is off and you can't put yor finger on it

I know what you mean. Cause the problem with two separate artists using the same 'source' so to speak (rotoscoping real life videos) is that even with separate styles they have that one thing connecting the two. So yah, unless this artist starts making a bunch of these and people can tell that they are from certain movies 'then' it might be a problem. Until then, I think it's kind of harmless.

Oh it's harmless, however they are neglecting to say if they did use rotoscope, so they are makin it seem like it's their original work 100% which if it isn't, is really unfair

The second one is DEFINITELY from Rescuers Down Under. The other's are familiar but I can't really place them.

I've only seen the first gif on tumblr but yeah, when i saw it i definitely thought the same thing but didnt say anything about it.
I mean it's neat but likely traced, or at least copied, a total shame too :\
