Good you need to. You are one of the few streams I would go into with the word free in it just since we are friends. So many kiss asses sucking up trying to act like a "friend" to get stuff. Then just as many people who get pissed when they end up getting nothing

I've never asked or expected any freebies from any of my artist friends and sure we don't speak often glow but even if we did I'd never do it for freebies :p it's funny though I was taking to another friend about exactly this situation not that long ago where the fake friends flock for freebies kinda drowns out your real friends.

I have a best friend who can draw and I;m not friends with her for her art :O Yeah, I love when she gets me something or makes me something, or whatever. But not because of her art ;-; If people do that, they have no morals! Heck, i even get art to repay her for the art she gets/gives me XD haha

also... didn't know you did them xD I keep telling myself I don't do free art, never lasts though lol. Then again I only do freebies for "certain" people, in a "certain" forum thread :3 (and yes, only speakers of my own language can find it)

btw, how ya feel about AT's? considering making one big secret santa trade with artists from "all" (basic skill level required) and need to know if people would be in on it.

That's why I don't do free very often, and why I often end up cancelling freebies. All free art seems to do is cause drama because people will pretend to be your friend and then only talk to you for art or continuously pester you for said free art. My usual rule of thumb is to only give free art to people who don't know they're getting it (I do this for random people if I really like their character, but only if I've talked to them at least once via facebook or IRL).

There will always be sycophants out there. All you can do is... well, exactly what you're doing. Charge for your artwork and only do it as unexpected gifts for close friends, and it will always be unexpected because real friends don't feel "entitled" to it.
