Four Years

Okay technically I should have posted this yesterday, but hey, crazy work and stuff lately.
Yesterday was my fourth anniversary of being on FA, and in actuality, joining the fandom as a whole. Which is cool. Neato. Though I guess if you wanted to see it for yourself you’d have to go to my original account
Sprout_the_drakeling .
I try and write a little blurb every year for the heck of it, but maybe to get my mind off work, I’ll actually use the journal feature on FA as a “journal” and just spout out random crap. (Wait, you mean journals don’t have to be YCH auctions and self-commission promotions? Woahhh…)
Let’s start with the usual bullshit of “woah, I can’t believe it’s been four fucking years.” Because seriously, it doesn’t feel like it at all. At ALL. I joined the fandom one lonely Halloween night back in my senior year of college at the ripe age of 22 after stumbling upon
Kiteless ‘s vore site, Dragonspot (I think it’s actually still up too). Before that, I had *absolutely* no idea other people were as crazy obsessed about being eaten as I was. Believe me, I thought I was the only fucked up person in the entire universe that wasn’t freaked out about that strange idea. How completely insane and unnatural of an instinct is it to WANT to get eaten? Silly human brains…
(It’s actually a bit more complicated than just wanting to be eaten, but hell, if you’re reading this at all you probably already know that.)
Anyway, it might seem trivial now bout that was a huge discovery for me. Like seriously: a life-changing moment in time. I will remember it until the end of the foreververse. It’s amazing how being able to connect with even a small amount of like-minded people can be so inspiring and relieve a crazy amount of end-of-school stress to boot. I remember talking to my newfound friends all throughout finishing college. The gang that actually brought me over from DragonSpot to FA were
Talonblaze
Nitedragon and
Baako along with a few others I’m not sure are still around like AlexTheDragon, TastySnacks, and Yuuto. Then I met
Pyxaron , found the courage to visit him in real life (since he wasn’t very far away), went to cons (a proposal I thought was completely ridiculous and would never happen, and now I’m addicted) and slowly began to meet most of the friends I know today. Yay! *big group hug!*
It’s a little funny, too. I remember being VERY into role play when I first joined the fandom. Maybe it was because I drew worse than a blind, noseless elephant on LSD and it was the only way for me to express vore creatively in a somewhat coherent fashion (which mind you was a HUGE release after storing all that inspiration for 22 so-odd years).
That being said, the character ‘Sprout’ was never really a persona of mine at all. In fact he was just a random character I felt obliged to create to join the community. Which isn’t a bad thing, I learned to like him (and still like his first concept sketch, surprisingly). I also named a rather bad ass fucking WoW character after him (and good or bad, all my ex-WoW friends know me as Sprout as well). But taking on his name for 4 years is kind of weird, now that I think about it. Especially now that I don’t role play much anymore. It’s almost an obsolete reference at this point.
If I had to pick an actual “fursona” that would fit me most, I’d say Chyme would be more accurate. While in real life I’m not actually a slimey-skinned amphibious throat-crawling parasite, (at least I don’t *think* I am…) the character was directly inspired from a part of my own persona. Which is probably why I like him so much. It’s an interesting thing to go through, a bit self-revealing, and it’s something I think everyone eventually does at some point. Maybe it’s part of the secret “get good” thing artists try and do. You know? That thing?
Speaking of art (my transitions are flawless, shut up) FA gets the credit for being the only reason I actually kept drawing after college (some could say “learned how to draw after college” if they wanted to be mean jerks). Without all the friends and support from the community I would have just shrugged it off and completely given up on that. So there you have it, furries are good for something! (I kid, really!) But I do always think of that whenever I go to hit that submit button on this site—you guys really did pave the road and I will always appreciate that. So there’s your mushy inspirational speech of the night, now go start drawing if you haven’t and let FA totally carry you like it did me.
Speaking of drawing too… it really needs to happen. And it will, eventually. Work can only be an excuse for so long. Once I get some free time I’ll start slaving away at projects I swore I’d do like half a year ago. That and I’m due for more noms and maws and D and cool neat stuff like that which is more or less the only fucking reason you are even getting this journal notification in your messages. So that will be happening. Yay!
But yeah, I guess wrapping this up I’d just like to thank everyone for the awesome four years, all the friends I’ve made, all the people that supported (or gave me reality checks on) my art, and everyone I finally got to put a face to at cons. You’re all awesome. Keep being awesome! (And delicious!)
xoxo

Sprout, this journal is so easy to relate to! I felt the same way about chubs. Haha.
But it's been awesome knowing you, even though we don't talk a whole lot online, I always love hanging out with you at cons! :D
Side note : it ''does'' take alot of courage to meet pyx irl, he's suck a evil mean person that only wants to do harm! not
Still, seems like its been a good 4 years, lets hope that another 4 and then some continue to go well for ya bud!
So here's to the past, my great friend Sprout!
And here's to the future, my great friend Chyme. *hugs*
(I dropped off the map back in 2011 for reasons but came back a few years later:3))
I'M NOT DEAD :D
How've you been recently? :3
