god i need x and y everyone seems to be finding shinys like no tomarrow, have the chances for running into a shiny increased or somthing for these two or somthing?

It seems that way. I used to have to work so hard to get shiny pokemon. Like in one version I had hatched some 2000 vulpix eggs with no luck and here I am catching stuff left and right that is just jumping out of the grass at random :I

The Poke Radar is also a pretty good trick to catch shinies. But it does work best on 'mass outbreak' Pokemon. Like the ones you find in diamond and pearl.
The last shiny I encountered was a Combee, a male so it was kinda useless.

Where do you get the good and super rods by the way? I can't find them.

I've been trying the poke radar but because of the several different kinds of shaking grass I've yet to catch anything with it. I'm just really bad at telling them apart sometimes. I mean I used to be really good at the radar thing, could catch five shinies in one chain. Chain fishing has been more kind to me this round X3

I'm pretty sure one of the two rods you need is in the town with the monorail by azure bay. He's like in the lower part of the town, not the upper part where the pokecenter is. and double checking, internet says super rod is route 16. Gotta speak to a fisherman there.

I'm currently trying to get a mareep through sweet scent, and also trying to breed a shiny noibat, but it's taking quite some time T u T
I DID manage to get a shiny Relicanth through chaining, though (my first ever shiny), and then I randomly encountered a shiny Slowpoke as well

Yeah you just gotta hope that you sweet scent up a mareep and not a wingull X3
it took me about 480 pokemon before mine appeared, which I am told is kinda low but whatevs X3

yeah, yesterday was my luckiest shiny day ever. At 120 I had a shiny hoppip (I was aiming for Psyduck though), at 480 I got the shiny mareep and then as I was taking a break I went into a friend safari to check out their freshly unlocked third pokemon only to get a shiny Mienfoo as the second thing I encountered.

So not sure what happened there but suddenly my luck was through the roof :I
