Almost a Ghost on Halloween
I was almost a ghost on Halloween night.
It seems I found a major cause of my inexplicable illness and fatigue that has slowly become worse for more than the past year and spiking in the colder months; slow carbon monoxide poisoning.
Turns out CO from the wood stove was increasingly leaking into the house, most likely over the past couple of years.
Halloween evening I realized things were getting extremely bad and within an hour or two I was rapidly drained of energy with extremely shallow breathing. I knew something was seriously wrong. Before i was about to "nod" off I forced myself to open a window for some fresh cold damp air. The leak was quickly located.
Yep carbon monoxide was leaking into the house, making it difficult to get any oxygen.
Talk about a close call.
And it turns out that it may have been a good thing i didn't go to FF this year. Had i been gone, my dad may have started up the stove that was producing the CO and not noticed it.

Oh my goodness, that's super scary! I'm glad you're alright and found the source. D: Monoxide detectors are important!

Yeah i need to do some shopping online for a good detector. That may may saved us some slow "misery" over the past few years. Someone i know who has a medical background said my description of inexplicable symptoms matched up to carbon monoxide poisoning. Now i suspect this leak has been around quite a long time, but only became noticeably serious over the past year or two.

We had black mold in our house from a leak in the roof, but didn't know it. I was always tired and had no energy. Then I went on a road trip with some friends, and within 3 hours of driving I felt so much better. Then when I returned home, I got sleepy again. We started checking and found the mold and got rid of it and fixed the roof.

Whoa! That sounds awful. Sounds a bit like what i've been experiencing for quite a while now.
