Holy crap Ive been having the same problem with my laptop! Except for me its SAI that keeps freezing up! D:>
Anyways, hope ya can figure out whats goin on >< try setting the power setting to "high performance" when you first start it up, then go back to balanced or power saver once its running smoothly. You could also try doing a disk defragmentation and/or clean up. Those typically tend to help clear up space and improve performance :3

Oh, and you should also try re-installing skype. A lot of people have been having problems with it ever since the update ><
