Stereo system set-up
Finally, after living here for 6 years now, I've managed to install my hifi system.
My daddy bought his Pioneer stuff when I was 5 years old. Since then, I've dreamed of having my own. Ten years ago, that dream came true.

*hugs*
In the 90s, the company has been privatized and then some big electronic markets sold them off here. The price was just $300/pair. But they're really very good, and heavy, about 25kg. Very unique is, that the second speaker from the bottom is a passive system. It only moves a bit at a very high bass level.
I just got a great old broadcast turntable like this: http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/.....onsole0014.jpg
Mine looks a little better than that though. I just spent five days stripping the old chipped paint off of it! My arms are a little sore!
When I listen to my old college airchecks that were recorded right from the station control board without any processing I hear a lot of turntable rumble.
A lot of audiophiles like them because of how sturdy and simple they are. Also the larger ones like the Gates or RCA turntables are sought after because they can handle a 16" transcription disk.
I like them because they're simple and vintage! Playing a 12" classical music 78 on one of these would just fit better than a modern turntable. Not to mention they're fun to restore. My Sparta is currently taped and ready to be painted. I chose a beige outdoor durable spray paint with a sandpaper like finish. It's a nice color that has a vintage look to it. I'm also gonna have to repaint the RCA tonearm it came with. Then I'm gonna buy a Grado 78C mono cartridge to bring my 78 collection to life.
That's a cool pic! I can see a Teac in the background. I have a Teac A6300. I've also had a few Tascams, Revox, Ampex, and RCA reel to reels.
I'm lucky enough to have an uncle who used to work for a local cable company, so I get a lot of old gear from him. I'm just upset that when I was younger I stood idly by while he threw out three or four reel to reels. I think they were Teac decks. He said they were broken. Well next time he breaks I'm throwing him out! lol
BTW this is the last turntable I restored: http://towble.deviantart.com/art/Gr.....hone-361341169 http://towble.deviantart.com/art/Gr.....-Top-361340484
Well, as long as it's good, it doesn't matter which brand it is.
