hi!
this should actually go on my personal account, but uhh....there are more people watching this one XD so here's the story: as in the past two years, myself and orlalil are running the artist alley at a local convention, UBcon. this year, we have a super ambitious con director who wants to make everything as awesome as possible, and one of the things we decided on was to make FAQs that can be used for years to come for con in general, as well as for the alley specifically. the issue with this is....i can't actually think of anything to put in it. we get a lot of questions and a lot of things come up, and i'm just completely blanking, so i'm sending a shout-out to all you artists out there who have tabled at cons or have looked into it, to help us make our FAQ!
what should be included for an official Artist Alley/Dealers Den FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)? any suggestions you have or links to other Alley/Den FAQs would be awesome and helpful!
thanks!

I guess you could can call it a art throw down, Two or more artists, side by side, create there own original piece on site while other people to watch. I only seen people do it traditionally, but if some one was to do it digitally, I guess there could be a TV or a projector to show there progress. Usually they start at the same time, or not, and when they are done, You can either have people vote there favorite or simply have an action to help benefit the artists.
If they are quick at these, they can do multiples if they choose.
I imagine that they can either be long term or short term sessions. Short terms, they finish within a few hours, and long term, they have more leaser time if they like (go around the con).
This would actually Bring some good publicity to artists who wish to participate and good insight for other. But when it comes to this, Artists will have to choose between either a booth or the throw down.
oh....
Gotcha.
im dumb.
As in Buffalo, NY?
Here's an FAQ for dealers den (you can also find Artist Alley in the tab FAQ) from FWA.
http://www.furryweekend.com/faq/
In my personal experience with having a table, the tax thing is a HUGE deal. I've heard more than one person getting slapped with fines because they tried to avoid paying taxes. Is not worth it in my experience.
Also, simple questions you don't think to ask end up being the ones asked the most often. Things like:
If I have to go to the bathroom/get a drink and leave my table unattended, who is going to watch my stuff?
Am I able to choose what table I want?
What is the earliest/latest I can be there?
Things like that.
*jots down a couple more questions*
I don't know much about it really, I just show up, sell art and keep alcohol hidden in IRC root beer bottle so by the time I'm done at artist's alley, I'm three sheets to the wind.
