Got my head split open in a nasty car wreck tonight.
I was driving down I-40 East en route to Del City for a weekly D&D game and as I approached the bridge everything blacked out and I woke up in the hospital 2 hours later with my head split open (and bleeding profusely), my car completely totaled and a seriously annoying bruised shoulder (probably where they gave me an unnecessary tetanus shot given there was an empty tetanus vaccine vial sitting there).
So now I have no transportation to work, a horrible Frankenstein's Monster-like stapled gash across the left side of my head, blood all over my face and nice premium Jinx shirt, and what's worse, the information exchange the cops left in my belongings has NO insurance or driver's license information WHAT SO FUCKING EVER of the 57-year-old woman that hit me, but DOES include a whopping $256.50 ticket for speeding. No idea how they determined I was speeding other than pulling my car's black box, and since I was knocked the fuck out on impact I remember nearly nothing about the accident itself other than that it occurred on I-40 East and that I was close to getting to the exit on Sunnylane Road. That's literally all I remember.
And here's the video explanation showing off the stapled head wound.
Update 1 11/18/2013: CONFIRMED! USAA called the woman in the other car, and I now know for a fact she has NO driver's license and NO auto insurance! So I get to pay absolutely everything out-of-pocket until I find out if they determined her to be at fault, in which case my Uninsured Motorist coverage would kick in and pay my medical bills ONLY. The towing company wants $200 to keep the car as long as they have and the junk car guys offered me a measly $250 to take the car off my hands. So yes, anything you can send would help tremendously, because I'm already missing enough work as it is.
Update 2 11/19/2013: The salvage guys gave me $200 for the car, which after paying the towing company $175 meant a whole measly $25 profit. Given the car itself was $1900 when I bought it that's still a huge net loss. I took video of the car being towed off. Enjoy my black humor.
And have some wreck pics while you're at it.
Driver's side back end, including gas tank.
Interior where the driver's side window and cup holder are broken off.
Front end of the car, quite damaged.
Front driver's side, where you can see the severe damage from the wall and/or impact.
Udpate 11/20/2013: I walked an hour to work only to be sent home because my gaping head wound looks worse than it is and they "don't really need me tonight". Great, that's even more time off work that I will not be paid for. I bought gauze at Walgreen's to cover the wound so the whiners at work won't say it's grossing them out and maybe it'll shut the bosses up tomorrow night. If not, I don't know what to do. I cannot afford to keep missing work. I just can't.

I also hope that someone can give you a ride into work until either your car gets fixed (assuming it can be) or you get a new vehicle (assuming it can't be).
It totally blows that you're getting penalized and the police don't have any information on the one that hit you. Did they flee the scene? If they did then congrats to them because the cops now have a reason to slap a felony on them.
I have made a journal for you and hope it helps.
This is why old people shouldn't drive! I seriously think they need to put more claim on her due to the sole fact that she HAS NO INSURANCE OR LICENSE. Wow.
Good luck to you, and if I can I might be able to spare a little bit. Only found this journal from someone I was watching. :/
Old geezers and their poor driving skills....
Again, hope everything turns out okay.
It's a messy situation. I thought having no insurance was illegal in it's own right, at least that's how it is here. :I
You have a point. If she's found to be at fault, at least that'll be SOMETHING covered.
So, I'm guessing there's no witnesses, nothing else that can show what exactly happened?
How old was your car anyways?
The car I lost was a 1994 Toyota Camry XLE. It wasn't in the best of shape, granted, but I was quite attached to it. I'm the kind of guy poor enough to run a car until it dies of natural causes, or someone manages to wreck it. At death it had over 260,000 miles and a considerable amount of mechanical problems, which is why I did not opt for collision insurance (why waste the money, when insurance wouldn't pay out more than like $200 after deductibles?)
Ironically her car was a 1999 Toyota Camry SE, but I haven't seen what happened to it. I'll venture a guess it's not driveable either.
From what you said, I can sum up that the laws in your state regarding wrecks is hella fucked up. I hope the lady got a shit ton of tickets, she deserves it for putting others at risk physically and financially for not having two essentials when it comes to the road.
Just like witnesses aren't allowed to leave a scene here, I think the patrolman should find it in HIS duties to submit a case, since it does involve the road. They do shit at their job, no offense. But you can't do anything about it? Nothing?
Hey, as long as the car drove fine and didn't cause too many issues on the road itself I see nothing wrong with it. Just means she's without a vehicle herself.
You don't have any of her contact details?
I honestly don't know, I would have assumed you would've seen her in front of you...the situation sounds messed up and confusing. It's a shame you can't get any details from her about the wreck. I'm curious to see how it went down, hitting by side, front, back... You don't know any of that?
If I could remember anything about the accident I'd tell you (again I was knocked unconscious on impact so I assume my head slammed into the steering wheel before impaling the side on the driver's side window, given all the blood there and the severity of my cut). I don't really remember anything past being on the highway and approaching the exit. I may have been broadsided into a wall, I don't know. My airbag did NOT deploy but if it did I might've remained conscious and had less injuries.

The rest of the pics I got of the car don't really show any damage, but I uploaded them for insurance purposes.
But no until I get more information from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol or the official collision report comes out I don't know much at all about the impact because I was knocked unconscious pretty early in the wreck and don't recall any of it.
I hope everything gets cleared up. T-T And poor car! I hope it's fixable or you can get a new one soon.
I'm seeing other cars on Craigslist ranging from $1,000-2,500 but those are rather out of my price range. I walked an hour to work tonight only to be sent home "to heal up" because my head wound looks a hell of a lot worse than it feels. As it is, putting on my uniform-required baseball cap opened a scab on the wound and I bled all over my hat. Luckily I didn't have to walk home because my mother had just arrived in the area on her way home from work and called me to check up.
I just bought $25 in medical supplies from Walgreen's and after shaving my head EVEN MORE to put on the gauze it doesn't look likely to stick. That, and any pressure I put on the wound only re-opens parts so I'm bleeding all over the gauze. I'm hoping gauzing it up enough and putting the hat back on will do enough to allow me to return to work because my bills and rent won't pay themselves, and I've already lost around 30 hours this week over the damned accident.
Glad you're ok at least!
It's a good thing you survived without anything too fatal. ;O; That sounds extremely painful. Man, I wish they did have witnesses for this, that would clear things up much easier for you without all the mucky stuff that the lady could potentially lie about.
In my first car wreck no tickets were issued to me, had insurance as did the couple I hit, but they tried to put the blame on me, even though at the scene they admitted it was their fault. Liars make me mad. It was on the report that they did an illegal move that caused me to collide with them.
But yeah, I'll stop nagging you, hope you get everything cleared up, I'll be watching for updates and I'll see what I can do for ya!
Did she hit you or did you black out?
I hope you get everything resolved and I truly wish I could help you.. But financially I am currently on hard times...
Its one of the kindest fandoms to be a part of..
Heck! I found out about your journal through another fur who was asking people to help you out and put a link to this journal in his journal.
We always care about each other and I think we always will.
& I MEAN everything! Right down to her house clothes bank accounts etc
Go fuck yourself, you pathetic waste of skin.
If you won't believe the collision report, the video of my car being towed off for scrap, the video of my massive head wound, the pics of my car being totaled, etc. then you can call the fucking Highway Patrol yourself and talk to the officer that wrote the report herself, because her name and badge number are on the report.
Goddamn this just burns me up. I didn't even want to ask for donations in the first place because of cynical fucktards like you, and then you rear your ugly head.
