what is your stance on marijuana?

General
I recently started smoking marijuana recreationally (past 4 motnhs or so) and I have sort of become obsessed with it. Marijuana is an extremely interesting drug. Your brain functions in such a different way. Thoughts become clearer and concentration is deep once you finally focus on something. Its been such a useful tool more recently for art. I feel like Its so much easier to sit down fir extended periods of time to compete art pieces
I hate to sounds like a stereotypical stoner, but I am in love with marijuana. Its such an intriguing experience. I have been finding things out about myself that I never would have whilst being sober. I becone super aware of how I act and feel and its helping me fix glaring negative aspects about my personality and thought process. I tend to be extremely honest when I'm high.
I want to know how you feel about marijuana, even if you haven't tried it. Dont be afraid of offending me! I seriously want to hear what you have to say

Honestly, I think it's a crutch and an easy way out; similar to alcohol abuse. I personally believe it's better to overcome your own problems through willpower, self examination, and clear analyzation. I understand it isn't the same for everybody, though. But doing things the hard way and finding real tangible, personal victory has always led to a more satisfying conclusion, in my experience.
I know one person who decided to smoke pot, lost his inhibitions, and thought it would be a good idea to walk into a gas station with a toy gun. That situation ended with half his face shot off. Speaking solely from my own experiences, I have yet to meet a pothead who felt like a benefit to society.
I don't expect people to fix physical ailments through meditation or self criticism. The same goes with mental inhibitions. I used to have the very exact same stance on thre subject as you do, but after smoking the past 3 months I have realized what potential it has.
How do you unhide comments? I accidentally hid yours
Alcohol companies oppose pot because it's competition.
:)
As a former toker, I'd like to point out another way pot and alcohol are somewhat related. Most people can have a drink or several and enjoy it; however, some are prone to become alcoholics. I was a daily smoker for a very long period of time and it inhibited my social life. I'd go out and be comfortable for a while until I craved my fix and wanted to return to the normality of my at home and high comfort zone.
It's not for everyone but that's the kind of thing adults can figure out for themselves.
It can help you relax and such and help you focus in cases like yours. Plus its natural compare to those more hardcore drugs like speed and ecstasy and less harmful as well. I have heard of it used for medicinal purposes as well, can help people in pain and help to numb the pain.
I don't use it but I have no real problem with it since its not all that harmful (That I know of) at the end of the day.
Small time occasional use: ok. Daily heavy use: no..
when I go to one of the "coffeeshops" here you have your typical stoners sitting next to people in suit that just had a long day at work and want to relax a little. some ppl go to a bar and drink beer, others smoke a joint.
though because it isn't a big deal, we don t really have that stereotype as much.
and to be honest, I rather have stoned ppl then drunk ppl. XD
Don't obsess, though. That's just obnoxious. ;)
Just moderation if you choose to and be conscious and courteous to those around you who wouldn't like it
First: The smell. You don't notice it, but everyone around you does, and it is one of the most horrid stenches I have come across; even bad breath is preferable, because that's localized. The smell of weed smoke just emanates from the source constantly.
Second: "thoughts become clearer and concentration is deep..." I can use the analogy of being drunk here. When you get drunk, suddenly things seem like good ideas. You don't process things as well so you misunderstand positive and negative effects of your actions, and deduct faulty reasons to do things (or not do things). You might think you have a clearer focus but in reality... you're impaired.
That one, in particular, is what's frightening about marijuana; you're not physically impaired, just mentally. You're not stumbling around half-drunk making bad decisions, you're walking around just fine, but still making bad decisions. Some friends of mine decided (while under the influence of weed) that it would be a good idea to take a break from the game they were playing and go for a spin. They ran a red light and had a head-on collision; the two in the front ended up dying and the one in the back (who hadn't smoked so much) had decided to put on a seatbelt, so he survived.
A lot of people say smoking weed is harmless. And in one sense, yeah. If you're strapped down to table and can't move anywhere and cause any effects to things in your surroundings, you could say that about almost every drug. But it influences your decision-making process and slows your reaction rate, along with causing immediate (dunno about long-term) memory loss.
So yeah, that's just my two cents, based on quite a bit of observation. TL;DR: it's okay to smoke it. Just keep it to yourself and stay away from others.
I don't smoke, but my father does and from what I've observed of him and what others have told me of their own experiences, I see no reason for it to be illegal as long as it's regulated like alcohol.
Indicas cause a body high which in high amounts can make you feel like you are drunk in a sense. Lower quality pot is generally an indica strain from what I have observed
Sativas cause a brain high and the filter on the input and output of your brains shuts off depending on how much you consume.
I have never been so high that I couldn't function. The people you know were probably seasoned potheads that smoke a lot of dirt weed or maybe they just smoked too much in general or maybe they didnt. Either way, moderation is key.
Also, +1 for actually going through and replying to these comments.
If you're doing it for cognitive benefits, you'd definitely be better off with something like piracetam. Bought a kilo of that shit a week ago and I've just been waiting for the perfect moment to try it because it's never going to be as good as the first time- weather's gotta be right, lyme disease needs to be relapsing, basically probably never going to touch it
Pot has done the same to some of the people i know as well. I think its more of a personality thing, but I don't know your sister so I can't make generalizations
Science is inconclusive on benefits or illnesses.
It's bad for your lungs, just like smoking; it impairs you about as much as alcohol at most use levels; it is useful for treatment of some psychological conditions; it is nigh impossible to overdose; it is strongly psychologically addictive but physically non-addictive.
It all depends on how you use it and ANYTHING can be abused. You have a good reason for using it. You're not trying to escape from your problems through drugs. The fact that you can draw on it is impressive though. I was sad when I learned marijuana kills my artistic drive, but that's just me. It effects different people in different ways. I do also become more self aware on marijuana which can be eye opening, same with other drugs when used in the right context responsibly. They can lead to a lot of personal growth and insight.
Do you have any suggestions?
It smells, but if the person can act themselves and not be too weird then I can stand to be around them. And as long as it is not being smoked around me and is not brought up in conversation like an awkward fetish to me then I do not care lol.
It's your choice, it's peoples' choices and I really do not care what happens if something happens to them to be honest.
Life is a gamble we are already playing as we breathe and even those who do not do anything or try to be good can have something happen to them. There's no safe zone. But just adding more things to the playing field will increase your risk on losing this precious gamble earlier than others.
If something does happen life will go on.
Just wish you the best.
If anything it might be beneficial to the state to legalize it. Make people shut up about it and maybe make some of the ...crime go down? I think @_@ That would be nice.
Everyone I smoke with is responsible with so I have never had a bad experience while i was high.... except the time i went to a Built to Spill concert and all i wanted to do was sit down because i was high. I still had fun though!
I just hope you don't use too much drugs up to the point of becoming a junkie :'(
Junkies are Heroin.
(And skeletons are Meth.)
Imagine the money the government could rack in if it was federally taxed and regulated, and how much that would cost criminals who push the stuff. :>
As for its legality... I find it stupid that it's illegal anywhere. The benefits to society seem to far outweigh the cons in terms of legalization.
It's kinda funny, though. I just remembered how, with DARE and all the propaganda I went through, how freaked out I was the first time I saw someone smoke it. It was my first day in Germany when I was going for my college exchange. When I was shown the apartment I would be living in (five bedrooms, so four roommates), I remembered seeing a plant growing by the window and thinking, "Naw, it couldn't be." Then, that night, sure enough, one of them rolls up some paper. XD
Things definitely become clearer, focus becomes easier, and lots of things become funnier. There is this weird thing that happens when I smoke sometimes where I hear fire alarms, but that's pretty much the only thing out of the ordinary, other than that, there's really nothing wrong with it. Everyone experiences their highs differently, so it's really up to the individual.
Of course, smoking straight up marijuana is a health risk, and too much of anything is bad, but in moderation it's perfectly acceptable, and stuff like hash oil is not only safe, but possibly even beneficial.
Though honestly, if it does do damage, I'd really like to try it. Anything like that, really. I've been suicidally depressed for a bunch of different reasons beyond chemical imbalances and I'm sick of, like, idk, it's hard to explain. I don't even get to hang out with him anymore, so if I had to use some weed to hang out with him, I would, for sure! And stuff.
I started when I was about 15 but only smoked a bit on the weekends. Back then it was recreational, a nice way to relax, but as I grew older, went through harder times, became more depressed; I started smoking daily. I don't have any sort of chemical addiction, it's just my mood stabilizer, so in a sense I've grown emotionally dependant on it. If I stop smoking for a few days I'll be irritable for awhile but it goes away pretty quickly. I'm Bipolar and a year or so ago I decided to lower my prescription med dosage since there were bad side effects, weed has taken its place.
Without medication, I'm an absolutely horrible person. I lose control over my moods, I switch between being incredibly depressed to highly aggressive, even towards family. Cannabis has one bad side effect compared to the many that prescription meds had. When I smoke, I become forgetful and have a hard time staying on my train of thought, though that ends once the weed wears off.
Really, Marijuana is just my version of booze, but instead of becoming belligerent, aggressive, mentally and physically impaired, get a hangover the next morning, and destroying my liver, I just get lazy. Alcohol kills thousands, Marijuana kills nobody.
Honestly if you drink but look down upon those who smoke, you're a hypocrite. I smoke for the same reason people drink; to relax, get away from the hardships of the day and to take the edge off.
I'm not saying marijuana helped that or anything, but now that I have an inside perspective on the drug, I don't have any negative opinions of it in an isolated sense.
obviously some people are just not responsible enough to do anything. It really comes down to the person. I personally love it and how its helping me
It makes me oddly happy to hear how much it's helped you, probably because it helped me too. Do you smoke alone or with someone? I have to say, it's soooooo much better to have someone to smoke with.
Do continue to enjoy <3

These friends in particular are actually some of the most articulate people I know, and I know a few Mensa cases, but I find this group of friends more approachable than most because they're actually capable of removing head from ass and thinking like your average joe :P
Some had used marijuana, some had used meth, others some canabis and some few ones just alcohol but all the same, mentally imbalanced.
It takes perhaps 1-2 days for alcohol to get purged out from the system, it deals damage to the liver as well as braincells as physical downs.
As for mental downs, it can to some cause varying degrees of paranoia, emotional imbalance by enhancing emotions too strongly and depending on the individual it might be love, sexdrive, hatred or grief as the more common ones.
Longer period of great usage from it might make you addicted and also become a temporal "fix" for ones normal dopamin usage, so one can get happy but needs to be drunk to achieve that feeling once more.
As for say marijuana, canabis, meth and such, they do have some similarities.
Many inmates who had used say canabis had often used it in the beginning as a "first drug then move on to the heavier stuff" kinda drug but some drugs can affect people to such an extent even after the first innocent smoke to get permanent brain damage.
One such example resided in that place, a teen when he had first tried it but it didn't take more than that night before he could neither move his legs in any valid way, nor think straight to the extent he is now in a wheelchair, spasming at times and unable to make too mny coherrent sentences in a row.
Sure he might be an extreem example but it is still one that exist.
As for other inmates, they had gotten into bad relationships afterwards, beating their wives/husbands to the point that some even got delusional about what they truly were even saying to them and assaulted, raped or murdered them.
Sometimes when police find people who are under the influence of some drugs they are rabbling incoherrently, agressive and doesn't listen to the police and when they try to use force they don't even feel pain and thus continues to voilently fight on for their lives in their greatly dilusional state of mind after getting both tazed or beaten with batons repeatedly.
I know people outside the psyward whos lives been torn appart because of drugs, people who have lost the care for their own child because they were unable to still be good parents to take care of the child and went to rehab for a very long time after and still doesn't get permission to see them again, haunting them.
Many smoking drugs also usually target the normal dopamin in the body, making them experience happiness for a period of time during the time the drugs effect lasts but after longer usage of it it can also fade the normal dopamin build in the body, making the person have it much harder to get happy and some times unable to feel happiness at all without the extra "boost" from the drug.
Cannabis, I think, takes around one week or a little more before it is completely out of the system, compared to a great ammount of alcohol that takes 1-2 days.
Just some heads up so you know what some drugs might do to you, and remember, since most drugs are ilegal, those who make them does sometimes enhance the addiction potency to "keep" their customers comming back for more.
Everyone reacts differently in varying degrees to different kind of drugs but it is still some rather normal warnings.
And for those who say that alcohol is just as bad, well alcohol is also one of the most scientifically experimented drugs in human history too and also so many many times more accessable that drugs are so they reach many more who can also be more suseptible to the bad effects compared to the illegal drugs too.
Like saying: I don't want to drive a red car because they have the highest crash ammounts evah(when generally there are many red cars made...).
And I don't say that alcohol is good either, had scientists discovered it today, then it would too also have been ilegal just the same.
That's it for me.
But one thing, cannabis and marijuana are the same thing. Cannabis is the plant and marijuana is the dried flower of said plant.
But I do know that amfetamin is used to hinder people from sleeping and is sometimes employed in the military on pilots who need to stay 100% sharp during long flights but then it is docter perscribed and not a bad ammount intake due to the damage an exccessive ammount can do to the body as well as expose the pilot to addiction.
As for statistic facts of percentages and such, I am no such thing when it comes to drugs, I just tell you what I've seen, experienced and people I've met along with police reports in documentries how some people reacted while during the influence of varying drugs.
So no need to say that science haven't proved anything, I rely quite a bit on the things I've seen instead.
